I need to interview different people for my english homework.
There are 8 questions, it has something to do with dreams.
Your answers are just your opinions, I won't be arguing over it.

1) Are situations faded no matter what, or do you belive your actions can change the course of your life? What are you other considerations?

2) What does the phrase "American Dream mean to you?

3) What are the contrasts between dreams and realities? What contrast is there between the American Dream and American Reality? To what extent has the American Dream been realized?

4) How has the American Dream changed over time?

5) How do we develop our definitions of success? Are definitions of happiness the same?

6) Why does happiness seem to be so elusive for so many people? Why do people cling onto dreams? Why do people let go of them?

7) How should the conflict between dreams and responsibility be solved?

8) What influences a person's character? How does one's character influence the perception of his or her dream and it's attainment?

If you were wondering, I am a 9th grader.
If you actually take your time to answer these it is very much appreciated.
Thank you.

This is due 11/07/05 @ 9:00 morning - 2:15 afternoon.

1. Of course my actions can change my life. Sorry, I dont understand the 2nd part.

2. It means to be an American, but not being judged by anything else but my character and resume.

3. Dream is something you hope for. Reality is what you are stuck with. American reality = White america. It has been realized for some, while not others.

4. It changed from just wanting freedom to being completely equal in all aspects of life.

5. Success to me is being content with your life. Happiness is just the feeling of success.

6. Some people can not handle the hard trip of reality. People want to have dreams because they want to be happy and their dreams give them just that.

7. The only way to resolve the problem is if everyone realizes what is right and what they need to do and step up to the plate and face adversity but only if they conquere it is how one's dreams are accomplished.

8. Everything and anything influences a person's character. What one is use to or how one perceives life influence their dreams.

1) i believe that my actions can change the cause of my life. the other considerations are probably the people i mix around with and the influence i have on them, or my lifestyle is at home (is that what you mean by other considerations?)

2) a dream held by many that you can achieve success or happiness if you have enough determination or courage to do so

3) dream is something that you hope will happen, but reality is something is there/real, when you determine how everything appears to you. see above for american dream i guess. american reality is what is going on in america right now.

4) it used to be how everyone wanted to be free and hoping racism would stop, now there is still a little racism around but everyone is free.

5) success is when you are motivated to achieve something and you worked hard for it without giving up. happiness is when you know you have accomplished something, and it has been successful. or the satisfication you have, cheerful and willing.

6) some people dwell on unhappiness, or always tries to find ways to be unhappy. they cling onto their dreams hoping that one day it will come true. they let go of them sometimes because their giving up and moving on or it has already came true.

7) to face reality and that not everything has to go their way, responsitbility is when you know right from wrong, and you are trustworthly.

8) his surroundings can influence his character, he himself can also influence his character, the people he mixes around with too. what he does can influence his dreams

hope that's good enough

1) Your actions can change your life, but it's already been planned out

2) Get rich, be successful, smart, and try to find the perfect life.

3) Dreams are what you hope for, and aren't necessarily what happens. Reality is just what happens in life, the good and bad. The American Dream is (stated above), while the American Reality is often only middle class or lower. Lots of people arent willing to work for the life they want. I think mostly everyone hopes for the American dream, but everyone had different views on it

4) At the beginning, the dream was only to be free and have religious freedom, freedom of speech, etc. but now, all people want is to be rich and famous.

5) We develop our definitions of success through our parents (expectations for example) and maybe what we want to be in life. I don't think happy is the same thing. Someone can be very successful but still be miserable.

6) They probably look at all the bad things in their lives instead of the good. They probably want to hold onto some hope that their lives will get better, or that they will get the thing that they most want. They probably just give up because they're tired of waiting or working.

7) Just because you have a dream, doesn't mean you should only concentrate on that alone, because if it doesnt work out you have nothing to fall back on. So space your interests out.

8) Parents, media, friends, lifestyle. If you're lazy and confident, you might think your dream is very easy to reach. But you won't work for it, and probably not recieve it.

that was long mellow.gif but i hope it helps
