Ugh, okay so today was basketball tryouts. Well they sucked. All the black (which was the majority of the people) people laughed at me, mostly because I'm a short white girl who looked like a prep and was stupid enough not to bring tennis shoes. Then, after a horrible try out having to do my drills in socks, to make matters worse my stupid dad comes in. He says I shouldn't do basketball because it interfeats with everything.. There it went the one thing i was determined to do this year and it's gone. What should I do?

deff, deff, DEFFINATELY! until next year's try-outs, find something else to do, but will possibly help you in the long run, like try tennis which can help your balence and endurance skills, and even hand/eye coordination. run, train, and work out at least twice a week to get ready. and who the hell cares what the other girls think of you!! that should give you drive enough to do sooo much better and be soo much better that instead of laughing at you, they'll all be cryin their eyes out wishing to be just as good as you. go to the courts and practice your shooting, dribbling, and all those skills. even attend some games this year, to see how the team is.
anouther goooood idea is always to come prepared. your wouldn't go to a softball try out without a mit would you?? luckly, with basketball all you need is your b-ball shoes, and a fire in your eyes to kick every1's ass. cool.gif

Besides, if u never played basketball on a official team before, then yah train yourself this year.

try and be involved in the team anyways, attend the games, see if you can help out with stats or something...that way you'll get into the program for next season.

At our school the basketball team does conditioning and training during the summer... maybe you could do that and then try out next year... or just train on your own.

i know somebody who tried out once, but didnt make and then her mom and dad and family just told her to give up because she didnt have a chance. they wanted her to concentrate on tennis as opposed to basketball but she trained herself that year and the next year, she made the team but didnt play. but this year, she's the star player.

so just self train.

(yes, it is a true story)
