If you're using Photoshop, you can feather the end.
Select -> Feather

But what and where would i feather?

1) New layer
2) Fill all white?
3) Marqueel Tool (ON WHAT THOUGH blink.gif )
4) Feater (RADIUS?)
5) Press delete

Thats how i feather on most things but i never used feather for things like this before

Take a large soft-edge eraser, i'd say 200 like this:

and erase it to where it'll blend more...

i know you asked for a way to blend it, but if you can't find any ways [which i doubt] you could just copy a little bit of the part above their afros and paste it into the white space so it looks continued and just use the blur tool on the edges so it blends together

OR

just link the layer with the white space and the layer with the picture, merge them, then use the blur tool and blur the edge where the picture ends and the white spot starts. hope i helped you. `=)

Not exactly sure if this will work.
----
The layer beneath the main image must be solid color to make this work correctly.
Now, make a new layer. Put a fading gradient on this layer (from a solid color to transparent), and then end it just after where you want the image to be completely solid.
Link the main image layer to the gradient layer and you should now have a fade.
