OK...well i'm a freshmen and there's this boy in my cooking class who's a junior. we talk a lot and he's nice and all...and i found out a few days ago that he likes me. (his friend told me) so his friend keeps asking me whether i like him or not, and when i found out that he smokes i told him that i like him but i just don't like him because of the smoking. sooo his friend tells him and guess what he says? he said that he'll quit smoking for me. yeah, it seems ridiculous since it's damn hard to quit smoking, but i still think it's adorable! another issue that i have is my whole mindset that all older guys (especially juniors and seniors) just go after freshmen because they're "fresh meat" and such. do you think that i should go out with him (boyfriend/girlfriend) or do you think that he's no good? i'd really appreciate it if any of you have gone through a similar situation...happy.gif

first of all he's going to try and quit smoking for you, don't know if he means it or not but it doesn't matter what grade you're in, you should go with whatever you feel is right

That's a sweet thing for him to do; quitting smoking for you I mean. Maybe you should give him a chance, or perhaps wait a bit to see if he will still be interested.

I think you should go for it, if he quits then that's good.
If after you guys are going out he seems like he is only getting on you for being a freshman and just brake it up.

You should tell him -- Stop smoking and I'll consider going out with you.

I think this belongs in relationships.

I understand where you're coming from. Yeah... I hated dating people who smoked until.. well, I started smoking. _dry.gif But what I would recomend is going on a couple dates with him before you become "official." You'll hopefully find out if he has good intentions or not. Maybe he just really likes you. All guys have d!cks, but not all of them are one.

Why do you judge his reasons for liking you? If he was after your "fresh-meat" he wouldn't have tried to get to know you in the first place and just wanted to run to your "south seas". And if he quits smoking for you it means he wants to have a long-term relationship with you.

i think you should go for it. =) it's nice of him to quit smoking because he wants to go out with you. just give him a chance, and see if things go well. if he turns out to be another fake, just dump him.

^ 100% agree

Be careful, though. When he asked her to marry him, my dad told my mom he would quit smoking for her. White lie.

Some juniors and seniors are like that, only going for the fresh meat and things, but most of the time most of them are actually sincere about wanting to get with you and actually like you. Ive gone through that situation all the time because i usually date older guys.

I say you take a chance. If there something he does wrong you can always talk about it and the problem cant be fixed you can always break up.
