Okay, so the computer at my dad's house had some pretty nasty viruses on it and the whole thing had been screwed up for awhile. I wanted to reformat the computer and start all over but when I went to do that, it wouldn't let me because some of the drivers weren't working correctly. The message said to find the defected drivers and disable them. I accidentally deleted a few essential drivers and I didn't know that they were essential until I tried to restart the computer. Now, the computer won't even boot up, I just get a screen that says it can't start the computer because a driver that is needed to start the computer is missing. It says that I can try installing the driver through the set-up CD but I have searched high and low and can't find it. I'm not sure how to fix this problem. The only answer I can think of is calling HP and asking them to send another one. However, I don't want to go through that mess if I don't have to and even if I did do that, they might not even give me a new one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, your best bet would probably be to boot up from a Windows CD. Use it to reformat your hard drive and then just reinstall everything. However, this won't really solve your problem if you don't have the CD with the drivers on it anyway, unless Windows supplies generic drivers for the hardware.
What driver did you delete? Drivers can usually be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. |

I had the same problem. But we couldn't afford to go to a professional. My mom's IT guy at work said he would have a look at it and he fixed it.
 That's an awesome alternative to spending a lot of money on your computer to fix it. All it costed us was a cheesecake.

why don't you download it on another comp and then burn it to a cd then install it on your comp?

Thanks for your suggestions. I don't really want to go to a professional unless I absolutley have to (I'm stubborn and want to figure out myself lol) plus I'm not sure if my dad would pay for one. I could try downloading the driver and burning it to a CD and putting it in the other computer but I'm not sure if that would work since I would have no way to open it (I can't boot up the computer). The screen that comes up when I try to boot up the computer says what the necessary driver is that is missing but I didn't write it down so I'll have to check the next time I stop at my dad's house.
