I was thinking about this. Sometimes someone who isn't a mod informs me that someones already posted a topic like this... et cetera. I think it would be a good idea if we were able to close our own topics, and it would be less work for the mods to do so they can handle newbies posts. What do you think?

No, that's a mod duty. It would be chaotic if people could close their own threads.

^ Yes, that's what I mean.
Maybe I don't know everything about CB, but I think it might be a better idea. Why don't you like it?

even if it's for official members.

If their topic creator wants their topic to be closed, they can simply contact a moderator and ask them to do so. It's not that hard.

No. Just no, Havoc comes to mind. I think allowing the mods to have special privilges such as this is just for them, they earned their status and no one else should have special rights.

Why would it be havoc? Closing your own posts?

i have been thinking about this lately.

i think that if someone wants their topic to be closed they should be able to. but i think only official members should.

i take that back, they should have more than 100 posts, i guess? but that still means official members.

i just think that if we ever do that, they would only have their topics closed if they want to. which means they should only have the power to close their own topics.

Because, well, it just comes to mind. Especially if they're always creating topics and closing them, people would absue the privilage. stubborn.gif

Well, what if it was only official members. Do official members abuse their powers now? Do mods abuse the powers they have to close their own topics? No.

Agreed.

I really don't see a point in being able to close your own topic. So you have power. Whoopeedoo. Seems like that's all you really want.

Some of them.
And... Yeah. It would be an okay idea, but... -shrug- Iono. It just doesn't sit well with me.

Eh, I'm not too fond of this idea. People would abuse their power, even if they were official members. Plus, all you have to do is p/m a mod to get a topic closed. It's no big deal.

So then why do you want mod-y powers then?

I think it is just a shitty idea, no offense. mellow.gif If someone pissed you off in one of your threads, you would close it or something. I say just deal with it and ask a mod to close it. Is it really that difficult?

Well, it is a mods' job. Without it, what would they do? [Joke mods, I know what else you do, I was one once...]

But seriously, people would use and abuse their "power". I just don't see the point.

It also would take a lot of work to get the whole forum to change over and to make it so only you have powers to YOUR topic. Sheesh.

i disagree.

mods are put into power to have that duty. its almost like a reward, just like official members have rewards.

I think it should be left for the mods to do.

I mean, it's not really urgent to have your own topic closed at once by yourself. It doesn't really do any harm for a mod to do so later on.

As Kiera said, it isn't going to happen. Is it safe to close this then? Does anyone have any major issues with not being able to close your own thread?
