well, shouldn't we address like the process of skin acceptance or something like that?
we are writing by-laws for all of cB... |

i dont see anything wrong with the acceptance and what not
i do feel though that the rejecting message can be changed to include why the skin did not meet the qualifications instead of "your skin was rejected. this is not because we dont like you..." |

QUOTE(sadolakced acid @ Oct 17 2005, 8:25 PM) well, shouldn't we address like the process of skin acceptance or something like that? we are writing by-laws for all of cB... Well, how would anyone besides you figure out what you meant by saying "we need something about them"? Anyway, what don't you like about skin acceptance? This will be hard, because opinions are subjective. It's hard to have a by-law on how we accept them because of the different types of skins submitted and well...I'll wait for your response to say it. QUOTE i do feel though that the rejecting message can be changed to include why the skin did not meet the qualifications instead of "your skin was rejected. this is not because we dont like you..." Yea, Jusun had made it automatic. I think personalized PM's are coming with the next re-write of cb. |

well, i mean, the skins section is part of cB, and we're writing by-laws for cB, so shouldn't we have some by-laws about hte design section?

^ Do you think you could thrown in our Design Resources Subforum? Discuss it?
you should have by-laws for both, yes. |

Yes, but what seems to be the problem? If you can't name one, then it doesn't need any because it's fine the way it is. So start talking.
Edit\\ Oh, we should have by-laws for the Design Resources once it's made. |

well, if it's fine the way it is then we need to put the way it is into a by-law...

indeed. unless we have amajor probelm to be addressed, we can leave this thread open, then formalize the existing rules once the more controversial issues have been mor eresolveed

I think we should do what Justin said, and write by-laws for skin acceptance. We also need to talk about what will qualify your skin, waht is acceptable for a skin and what is not, etc. We also need to impose a limit on how many of the same kind of skins we have. (E.g., There are already a ton of J. Lo skins. I think we don't need anymore.)

^That would be limiting creativity. If someone happens to make the best JLo skin yet, why shouldn't we accept it? We can't have restrictions for the subject of a skin except offensive/explicit content. I mean if it's a bad JLo skin, then it will be rejected.

Hm. I see what you're saying. Let me rephrease that. Instead of saying we reject all J.Lo skins from this point on, we list the number of skins we have that feature her image or her music. That will give skin designers an idea of how many there really are, and maybe they can come up with a different idea. If my skin search idea is approved, then this would also give searchers an idea of their options.

People don't make skins for CB. They make skins and then, for the good of CB, use their talent to improve OUR community. They give their creativity to the community.
There should be no limit on the type of skin you can make. Skin design comes from inspiration. If J.Lo. inspires you, go right ahead and make a skin on her. |

Sammi, I understand that, but what I meant was listing the number of skins featuring a person.
Example: Skins Featuring: J. Lo (124) Jessica Simpson (58) Something like that. I am totally against limiting creativity, and I don't think we should limit the creativity of skin designers at all. |

See the problem with that is that would take an awfully long time as we, the moderators, would have to do that manually.

Yea, and the point I was trying to make is that people don't care about how many skins of a thing we already have. They make the skins THEN submit them to CB, not go on CB and say "what should I make for CB?" Making the mods count up all the skins of each and every topic would take lots of time that we don't have, plus it would serve no purpose.

i agree with sammi and mona... its impracticle for the mods to go through and calculate every skin in every concievable topic
i do agree we should draft something formal on skin acceptanc, and possibly on skin requests as well, just so its in there. but there arent any major changes that need to be made from where im standing. |

yeah. theres no point in adding them all up. although it might have been a good idea to start with, it's too late now. they dont want to spend all of their time counting skins. like sammi said, people make skins and then submit them. id make skins to use and then when i was tired with them, submit them on my other s/n. i didnt just scroll the pages and see which one had less skins.
