I have not been here in about 4 months. WOW!

ANyway I have an ignorance when it comes to technology, so heres some questions

1) Are IPods really the best?
2) If I download songs on iMesh5 for free blush.gif can I still put them on my IPod or do I have to pay for every song I put on it?
3) If I do choose to buy and IPod which one should I get cuz I dont have that many songs. (I get played out on songs VERY easy)

Thanks
Sorry If these have been answered before but I dont wanna search the 3098734 Ipod topics.

1) Are IPods really the best?
No, it's just a matter of opinion & reputation.

2) If I download songs on iMesh5 for free blush.gif can I still put them on my IPod or do I have to pay for every song I put on it?
Yes, using iTunes that is. [Comes w/ the pod.]

3) If I do choose to buy and IPod which one should I get cuz I dont have that many songs. (I get played out on songs VERY easy)
Depends on what you want... [this is ordered by capacity]

•Shuffle: 512 MB(120 songs*) & 1GB(240 songs*)
•Mini[discontinued]: 4GB(1,000 songs*) & 6 GB (5,000 songs*)
•Nano: 2GB(500 songs*) & 4GB(1,000 songs*)
•Regular iPods & iPod w/ Video: 20GB, 30GB, 40GB... massive memory.

*actual capacity varies

No, you can play any MP3 (or several other formats) on the iPod--they do not have to be downloaded from the iTunes Music Store.

more questions:

1. Does the new video iPod have the recording feature?
2. How do I transfer pictures and addresses into the iPod? Do I have to purchase a seperate program to do that or can I just do it directly with a USB drive?

damnit..i had more...but i forgot...so just those for now =)

1. No, you can't record without extra hardware.

2. You transfer music with iTunes, which comes with the iPod. On OS X, you transfer addresses with Address Book; on Windows, you use Outlook or Outlook Express. For both, you transfer with a USB 2.0 cable, provided with the iPod.

^ Also, if the song file is too big of an mp3 file (or if the song is a .wma, .wav, etc), iTunes allows users to convert the songs to .AAC format with 128 kps, so that it is about 4 mb for a 4 min. song.

iPod video... yep, you can watch videos on that. :] Plus, it's 20 hours battery life. That's like... longer than my nano lol.

There's NO WAY to say that something is the best. I'll admit that I love my iPod nano to death, but that could change within a year.

About iRiver... looks pretty cool. I'm on the website and judging by the links on E-Store, I clicked Audio JukeBox Players and wow... The screen itself looks cool. But I have to actually see it for myself to judge. Looks pretty neat :]

I believe you can rewind and fast-forward video. Why would you not be able to?

You can't on the episodes that you bought from itunes.

It plays 2 different codecs. The streamline h.320 codec and the mpeg4. One of them goes 30 fps and the other goes 15. Don't remember which one exactly.

The screen is only 2.5 inches. The thriller music video was horrible quality, and some videos have blur or screen problems. And I forgot what ratio it would be.

Anime wouldn't be too muich of a problem, with subtitles. But still, widescreen does work better.

1) Are IPods really the best? technically, no. there are a lot of other mp3 players (like the ones mentioned above) that are cheaper and yet hold more songs/are better quality/have more features. a lot of people, including myself, like the ipod because of it's sleekness and look.

2) If I download songs on iMesh5 for free can I still put them on my IPod or do I have to pay for every song I put on it? No! I use limewire (like imesh) and i import the songs from limewire onto itunes and then to my ipod.

3) If I do choose to buy and IPod which one should I get cuz I dont have that many songs. (I get played out on songs VERY easy) Since you don't have that many songs, i'd say the shuffle (holds about 100, depending on which model you get) or the nano. if you're on a cheaper budget, go for the shuffle. if you want one that can hold over 1,000 songs and has a color screen/holds pictures, you should buy the nano.

And you know this because you have tried it out, because you have a video iPod?

To make a point, this seems to indicate you can move forward and backward in a film.

1) No. iPods are just a fad, although a very long-term one, I guess. There are better mp3 players at there. On the other hand, I have an iPod mini. This is because sometimes I buy songs off of the music store and I'm too lazy to convert them.

2) Yes. You can still put them on your iPod as long as they're not WMA or something like that. iPods play all MP3s.

3) If you choose to get an iPod, and you don't have many songs, I say go to somewhere like Amazon or something and get a second generation iPod mini. The nanos scratch really easily. But if you like how they look, make sure the whole conflict about the screen scratching too easily has been solved...

Well, first of all, those P2P networks offer mp3s for free but any CD you have or borrow can be imported into your iTunes library and then transferred to your iPod.

I understand its in your opinion and all i just wanted to tell you that the NANO craze isnt as good as it called up to be. Theres a major problem with the screen apparently and the company knew about it but still sent them out. Also small details like its easier to break, to lose and to get it stolen due to its size. I have the normal iPod and i like it but not looove it. its just okay?
