Do u think that prisoners should be able to get their education in prison? i was talking about this in class one day and many students said that it should not be aloud because there is no point of having an education if u are in prison. what do u think?

i think everyone deserves some form of education. and why not if you're in prison? they should learn the basics in the important subjects.

Why is there no point to an education in prison? Most prisoners are released from prison eventually. Why not give them the skills and tools to lead a productive life afterwards?

I agree. Prison is an opportunity to change people for the better.

do you remember what was said against education in prison in your class discussion? for them to say that there's "no point" is hardly making a point at all. ermm.gif

most prisoners that actually get out of prison have a hard time with life. Their neighbor and friends are all probably too afraid to helping them out. And the whole liberal bullshit about society over indiviual is gonna make them all isolated. providing them with education can actaully give them a chance to find a job and get back in life, so yes. Im totally for it... cool.gif

definitely. i know that some prisons even provide job training to inmates who are about to be released.

a lot of prisoners are able to get their high school diploma in prison.

i dont see anything wrong with that.

yes. everyone deserves to learn. even if you did something wrong. I mean why not? they get to pay more attention to their school work intead of video games, parties, and etc. all subjects should be allowed also. like math, english, science, and other important subjects.

even prisoners are just like normal people.
but they did something wrong, and they are in prison.

well we were talking about the american soldiers in war, in my history class. then one of the students were like well "why dont we put prisoners into war, cuz there in prison and they dont have anything else to do! then it all got off topic, another kid was like well dont you need an education or sumthin to get in the war? then the other student was like well there's no pint of having an education in prison if your gonna be stuck in there for the rest of your life". mellow.gif (my class gets off topic all tha time lol)

People commit crimes for a reason. For those with little education, that could be the reason. Allowing education there would definately help with the rehabilitation aspect of prisons and correctional facilities

Prisons should educate their prisoners. It is true that those people who have been thrown into jail have probably commited terrible crimes, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't have an education. Those that will get released have a less chance of falling back into their habits if they have been educated than if they have been not.

yes. it's just like how in the old days, women werent allowed to learn.

everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, despite social status, race, age, and past. it's them that has to choose whether or not they want to. in order to lead a more productive life after being release, they should learn to do something, because there is a point.

i think education in prison is a good thing. Its a way for many of them to have something to look forward too. They can use this education for a job and better life after prison. Learning can also decrease the risk of them getting into trouble or getting killed in prison. I basically says "you can have another chance"
