If you were me .. what will you do with a mother who forces you to believe in God, attend mass every Sunday and pray?

I'm going to mass in 3 minutes.

nobody can force you to believe in God.
even though i am christian, that's pretty dumb.

God loves a willing giver, yes?

i agree. just because she's forcing you to go to church, it doesnt mean you have to believe in god.

You can be forced to go to church, but you can't be forced to be christian or believe in god. That's the thing about religion with kids today, when they get told they HAVe to go to church and HAVE to believe in God, they don't want to. I think that's what confirmation is about, but in the end, it all boils down to yourself. If you don't consider yourself a christian, talk to your mother, and tell her that you don't want to go to church...or perhaps if you are interested in it but don't like being forced, ask your mother to allow you to discover religion on your own. Things are easier when you comunicate.

Soemoen forcing you into believeing god will not help you in the future , but just by her wanting you to go to mass doesnt mean shes forcing you. Just tell her 2 times a month is ok.

I did tell her I don't believe in God last December of 2004 .. it was even during we were in the church .. she got mad .. I got mad .. so she forces me. Everytime ... she believes that making me go to mass will only save me and shit.

Lucky you, some peoples moms just aren't like that, and me, well my grandmother wuld actually kill me if I said anything remotely like that. Anyway to the person's problemo, well, like everyone said try talking to your mom, she is your mom, she should understand. You have free will, tell her the church teaches that, and that you want to use that to discover what things are alike and forcing you to do something isn't going to make you understabd.

Make a layout of spme good points to up your side and convice your mom. If she see how serious you are, maybe she'll let you make your own desicion.

ha i have the same mom except she's stricter.. she makes me go to mass 2 days in a week, join religious organizations, sing songs about God, pray every night, read the bible for at least one hour

because of that, i had deep thoughts and i hate God.. i don't even believe there is a god

If I were you I would talk to my mom. I'd say that I didn't like it at all, blah blah blah.

I told my mom I don't believe in God when we were arguing about going to a two hour conservative service (Judaism). She seemed kind of shocked and stuff, so did my brother (don't know about my dad, but I don't think he cares, thankfully), yet I still have to go to services. Like Yom Kippur is coming up, I have to go to that...

I guess it's to support my culture and stuff, since Judaism has grown so small in the world of religions.

As for you, like everyone else said, she can't force you to believe in God. As for making you go to mass, I don't know what to say. Perhaps you could try talking it out with her, telling her that no matter what you still won't believe in God so it's pointless... *sigh* I'll stop now, I don't think I'm progressing any further than that.

My mom always does that when everyone is pissed the day we go to church.
And at that time, I don't want to go to church.
And I don't even LIKE me religion.
I even told my mom that!
And she got so mad.
But anyways, I would just go...
I'd ignore everything the priest says, but hey, at least we aren't arguing.
Then I would go home and go on the internet.
Someday you will have the freedom to do as you wish.

As much as i hate it, i still practice my religion in order to impress my mom and to show her how thankful i am for bringing me to thsi country and giving me a lot of new hot topic clothes, videogames and all that stuff.. maybe you should think more of what you can do to repay your mom for whatever kindness she gives you

Convince her of a way to make it.

I find it repulsive that parents drag their kids to church when they know that the kids aren't going to learn/practice/retain anything they hear about.

well you dont have to believe in god
maybe ur mom just wants you to
because maybe she believes
that god is always someone that watches over you
and can protect you

or maybe it's because it's kind of like a family religion
where ur whole family is catholic/christian/etc
and she wouldnt want you to become an athiest or something
