overlay layouts

I encourage you guys to make more div overlay layouts. You all should know how; I'd say my tutorial in Myspace Help is pretty good.

Perhaps you could submit the div overlays? I don't know about you, but I think the quality of a lot of our Myspace layouts is low due to the limitations Myspace presents.

Cmon guys, make our site better. thumbsup.gif

Do it the way you do image mapping.

Open the image up in Paint and use the Paintbrush. At the bottom right corner of the window, there will be numbers. The first is the left alignment and the second is the top.

It's really simple.

I agree, and after reading your tutorial, and a few others, overlays seem somewhat easy. I would love to submit overlay layouts, but I don't think enough ppl know how to hide all the regular stuff and would get confused about what to do with it.

lol and inevitably...first question. i've been trying to figure out this div overlay thing for the longest time but to no avail...(yes i've read the tutorials etc). what would be really helpful is if there was a step-by-step tutorial starting with the codes to hide everything, then whatever you need for the div overlay...like, i can find bits and pieces but it never works because i don't know the whole process. if anyone could ever get around to that it would help a lot of us out (and answer tons of questions)!

yeah it wuold be really helpful :D,
i mean like can someone make an example
and show us how to make it, so we get an
idea ourselves.

i have read the tuts and ive tried, but something
always comes wrong
a step-by-step thingy would be helpful :D pinch.gif ermm.gif _dry.gif pinch.gif

I have one. overlay layouts are a lot easier than having to configure all the other already-coded shit. being able to just cover something is like having a blank canvas lol

Div Overlays themselves are not hard... its the compiling part that screws me up... when i put too many divs in one code, it gets confusing to look at. postitioning is off sometimes, which drives me nuts. What i think would be useful, is if we have a base code. like a series of divs with three modules... Banner or title module would be rectangular on top, two Nav and Content modules vertically positioned under the title... thats my idea of it.. add some dropshadows and maybe some borders... thats my idea but i dont know if i know how to compile them in one place correctly... so i think a base code would be just what we need if anyone can come up with it.

Yeah, that would be nice. If somebody could find the time to explain what each piece means, it would be REALLY helpful. That way I wouldn't have to guess all the time pinch.gif

^ Well there isn't one yet but if you make a topic like most people have done you can't get it explained. Also if you search through some old topics there are some people that left there aim/email to help those who need help.

The div tutorial we have explains things but it expects you to have some previous knowledge sort of.

I'll see if everyone agrees on maybe making a new one or expanding on the one we currently have.

I wish someone made a masculine layout. Like a div overlay that a male would be able to use. Most of the overlays are girly. (Well, the ones that are accepted, Like in the list of the layouts.)

The ones that come are mostly girly . I mean they don't not accept male ones but I understand what you mean. Maybe from now one some of the male designers that post in showcase will contribute theres? And females as well that make universal layouts.

Yeah...tell me about it. I found out the hard way. People are just so dumb. It's really not hard to figure it out. I learned on my own that way. Gah.

A lot of my layouts are for both sexes. Or at least...both sexes use them.
