Please don't double-post _smile.gif thanks!

Okay, hm. I'm pretty sure I know what to do. This is simple algebra.

So. Your problem is....8x-15=4x+12.

First, add like terms. Combine 8x + 4x. That gives you 12x. So now, the problem will be like...:
12x-15=12.

Now all you have to do is add 15 to -15 and 12. Now it'll be like this.

12x=27.

All you have to do is divide 12 on both sides now. I'll let you figure it out from here. _smile.gif

Hopefully that'll help.

One problem looks like

8x-15=4x+12
*

=/ this is easy...
~first get your X terms all on one side... so subtract four x from both sides... this is what you would get:
4x-15=12
~then... isolate the x term so add fifteen to both sides:
4x=27
~ now you can just solve for X by dividing by four
x=27/4

EDIT: the post above mine is wrong.... =/

okay thanks i understand that one now. There's another 2 other kind if you could help

2(a-8)+7=5(a+2)-3a-19

then the other one is

1 3
- d + - = -2d
2 8

1. Distribute the 2 across the parentheses and the 5 across the other pair of parenthesis
2. You get 2a-16+7=5a+10-3a-19 after you distribute.
3. Combine like-terms. I.E. add all the terms with the a after them and all the regular numbers. Remember, if you're moving a number across the equal sign, it changes signs (so if it's negative and you move it to the other side, it will be positive and vice versa).
4. You should get -6a=-18
5. Divide by -6 on both sides.
6. a= ___
7. And there you have it! I hope that made sense... happy.gif

The first one:
~start with the distribution so...
2a - 16 +7 = 5a + 10 - 3a - 19
~next combine the like terms
2a - 9 = 2a - 9
~ get your "a" terms all on one side but since it'll equal zero then i'm not really sure... I dont' remember.. but the statement is true since you'll be left with -9 = -9.... but i'm not sure if it's no solution or not...

#2.... I dont' understand the question...

EDIT: I don't see how b0st0ngrl got her answer... it doesn't make sense to me...

Hmm, for the second question, you subtract (1/2)d from 2d.
You then get 3/8 = 3/2 d.
Then, you divide both sides by 3/2 (or multiply by the reciprocal: 2/3).
The 3s cancel out, and you then get 2/8 = d.
Simplify and you get d = 1/4.
