Give advice to a guy in need, does she or does she not care? Options

I'm asking this on behalf of a guy I kinda know,
he's a real nice guy and he's with my friend Rose.
I'm running low on advice to give him..
So I was hoping you guys might have some..

The current problem for this guy is,
He doesn't know what's going on in his relationship and what to do now.

He says "well, in private, we act like a couple and sometimes in public, but ever since Rose had a talk with thuy (thuy likes rose as well), we been kinda distant. She told me we had to be apart a bit because my grades are sinking and I need to focus on studying.."

Kev says he often asks what they should do about their relationship.
She asks him what he wanted, and he asks her the same and they kept asking each other until kev told her

"well, I want you."
She told him "well you already have me.."

Do you think she's serious about Kev or if she just wants to get out of the relationship?

[side note: she usually have relationships barely lasting a week]

I dont know what she wants. It seems she wants both of them. Because when shes with the one that likes her she doesnt want anything to do with her bf. Which i think is stupid.

But this is a hard one, maybe he should just keep his distance like he asked her to focus on his grades and see what she does. If she takes advantage of this time, and spents it with thuy, then he can do way better then her cuz obyvious she wants to be with him. But space wouldent hurt just to see her actions, even if he does regret it later on. School should come before girls, nothing last forever..

So far I told kev maybe she's serious about him but in case she isn't try not to give his heart too much to her or it'll be pretty painful if she moves on to someone else.

maybe she's afraid that if she gets too close to a guy she'll get hurt again, since her relationship span is usually only lasting a week. maybe she is serious about him but just don't know how to show it. tell him to give her a little more time i guess
