Here's my little story...
It was the first day of school and we were able to sit anywhere we wanted in Math class. I didn't know anyone so I just sat in a random table full of other girls - with just another person I knew. I ended up sitting with this other girl who I automatically hated... and through out the year, we had to sit elsewhere but ... I realized that the girl I hated I really liked... and it took me all year to realize that she wasn't so bad afterall. I kind of lost my chance, I guess... So this year, I ended up in none of her classes yet I have oppurtunities to see her. I never actually have introduced myself.. and I don't really think I should since we knew each other from last year. And... well, I'm kind of shy. And here's the thing.. all my friends are friends with her but I don't see why we're not friends and I find that quite surprising... I'm too shy to go up to her and talk to her.. and I told myself that I'd want to be friends with her and my goal would be by December. But so far, no such luck.... Is there any other way? |

Any other way to become friends with her without talking to her? Not really. It takes some social contact to become friends with a person.
If you feel strongly about it, get over your shyness and try to strike up a conversation; however, the fact that you are uncomfortable might just need you don't have much to say to her, which means that you might not be friends with her even if you try. I generally subscribe to the view that, with a little effort, people naturally become friends if being friends would actually work out. |

^i agree.
i mean unless you have a convosation with her, you guys aren't gonna be friends, or just ask her friends for her screenname or email address, and slowly start talking to her from there, soon enough you'll start talking in school. or just be brave walk up to her and say "hi do you remember me from last year math class?" |

Grow up? It's all part of becoming more mature. You know what feels good to me? When I start liking a girl, I tell her straight up. Why should you have to keep those things to yourself? Rejection? Nah, girls LIKE to be told they're liked. Even if they might not like you at that moment it's not rejection. It's to let them know how you feel and it might even get them thinking...But hey, not a lot of people are that straightforward. If you want to take it slow...try to walk by her and say hi, smile. Do that a few times and she'll remember your face. Then "accidentally" sit next to her somewhere and start talking. "Hey, I've seen you around. My name is blah *shakes hand*" SHAKING HANDS is important to girls too. Plus you get to hold their hand for 2 seconds.

Well, yeah like they say. You gotta get over your shyness. But dont worry if you mess up talking to ger. You'll be friends with her sooner or later. You got the whole school year. You can try talking to her. Like ask her a question about something like if she remembers you or just say hi and ask what yall been up to and stuff. But yall be some good friends or more then friends soon.

mmkays...I can kid of relate to you on this. there's this one girl Chelsea that came to our school last year and I never talked to her but she just seemed like a person I'd want to hang out with. I'm shy too so it's always hard for me to talk to people. well uhmm this year we have gym class together and me and my other friend Andy were just sitting by ourselves cuz we don't like anyone else and Chelsea wasn't talking to anyone either so we just went up and were like "Hey Chels! come hang out with us!" she turned out to be a really good friend so just try to get over your shyness cuz you never know what kind of person you might be "passing up"

I get what you mean.
Maybe you're afraid she won't like you back and she'll find you to be some sort of creep? |

A continuation of Wow (part one, I suppose..)
So now, I finally got to say hi to her. We've been talking lately, laughing... joking.. and stuff. We decided to write letters to each other too! But.. unfortunately.. it all stopped.. abruptly. But we still talk.. a bit. I'm not sure.. but should I leave her alone? Gosh. I want to get to know her more.. but I don't know what to do... should I still talk to her and stuff? Maybe it was what happened yesterday. I kind of got to thinking.. I shouldn't think anymore. ![]() |

Talk to her. Say hi or something. You never know where saying hi can lead.

^ haha. Voila.
Now that you guys have started talking (and laughing and joking and "stuff") it's time to keep it up. You can't start a conversation well and then sit back and expect it to continue itself. You gotta keep it going, all the way. Good luck, you've mastered part one - starting the talk. ![]() |

While shes hanging out with your friends casually direct a little conversation here and there. Make jokes with her and make her laugh. Start saying hi to her from then on, and work to having longer conversations and maybe add her on myspace/or get her number.
