Hi! It's been awhile since I posted in here.

Anyways, the title says it all.
How long do you keep a promise with a friend / bf.gf?
how would you know when it is okay to stop keeping the promise?

it really depends on what the promise is.

but my ex-boyfriend made promises to me while we were going out and now that i broke up with him, he's breaking all of them. he's going out drinking, partying until god knows when, and probably smoking too.

i think promises the he made me should have been kept because that was me trying to protect him from crap but whatever...

promises should be kept until you feel that it's okay to break them, or until the other person says it's okay.

unless it's a no cheating thing with your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse because duh, that's a promise you have to keep.

Yeah, it depends on the promise. I usually keep all the promises I make. If the person says it's ok to break it, then I suppose you can, but usually you should try to keep your promises.

it depends on the promise.

he promised to bring me to paris, and he says he still will.

it depends on what sort of oath it is. if it's good for you, for pete's sake, keep it.

but .. i don't know, really, what sort of oath you might be talking about.

well if it's not applicable to .. you guys anymore .. like "never leave without kissing goodbye" then obivously there's no point really?
but if it's something like "we'll be friends forever" then -- yeah.

Well me and my boyfriend already made a oath or pact or w/e that we have NO SEX!! for him, its because of his religion and for me, its personal reasons. We have to much to lose and besides, we can still love each other without sex anyways.

I think the pact will go dead once or if we get married and thats all.

I usually keep my promise for a while...
The the problem with me is that I blurt it all out.
But I do keep secrets for a while.

As previously stated, it depends on the promise.

But, when it all comes down to it, you shouldn't promise to do something unless you actually intend to honor it. All promises should be kept. Although something may seem trivial to you, it could be important to your girlfriend.
