Apparently, the governor plans to close schools in Georgia Monday and Tuesday to preserve gas. how retarded is that? I don't want to lose my snow days without getting any snow! Anyone else's state doing this? Opinions?

Also new to me.

That's stupid, though. Cause then you'd have to make it up at the end of the year. We don't have that.

They'll probably start doing that in Houston since, like, there's no gas AT ALL with everyone leaving.

it's not really that...gas costs a lot of money these days and some people can't afford to shuffle their kids to school and the schools don't have the money to fill up all those buses...

this whole gas issue is freaking me out...

Aww...If Rita's really horrid, the gas prices might go up to four dollars.
I'd hate if my school closed because of gas. We really have to find a new way to go to school. Maybe we can just walk there or...Bike? Heh...(x__X);; Sorry!
Why can't we just poof ourselves to school like Harry Potter people. (>__<)

Umm. Not really. You have to provide a LOT of gas for kids going to school on a bus, and it could cause a lo of problems.

Well, I'm one of the kids in Georgia that don't have to go to school. _smile.gif I don't think it's retarded.

People in Harry Potter did just "poof" there. They had to take a train, then take either the boats across the lake or they took a carriage up to the castle. Sorry, I just had a itch to correct you.

This is news to me too. I hope my school doesn't close down.

No way my school would close down because of this, but that would suck if it did ><"
I heard about this, but I never really took it into consideration. It wouldn't make much of a difference in my opinion, a lot of people bus and walk to school anyway.. and if they get a ride its because their parents work near the school, which wouldn't make means they'd go near there anyway =/

I'm really actually not happy. They canceled our exhibition, which we really need, they canceled practice tuesday, which we also really need, and I don't see why it couldn't have last week when I had 16 tests in 3 days

..yeah they cancelled our Tuesday practice too.

So every day..the week after this one..we'll have a 3 hour practice. So instead of practicing 9 hours a week we'll practice 12 mad.gif

That's the only thing I'm sour about.
*

Ewww. I fully expected them to call practice Monday or Tuesday after tnoight's show (which sucked), but no, we get not extra practices at all

pshh...i WISH my school would be closed monday and tuesday. who cares about snowdays? to me, it's not like a couple of days added on to the end of the year is anything to stress over. you don't do shit the last 2 weeks of school...i'd rather have off a lot during the school year.

You can make yourself a snowman! Goes Ice skating! Stay on top of the frozen lake while you’re fishing through the crack.

Sorry, I thought snow would be fun because I never have snow in my whole life.

I care about snow days. I don't need time off now. But I will damn well want them in February. Then, if we have snow, we'll be making it up in the summer. I want my summer ASAP. I do not believe in year round school, thankyouverymuch

1. California has awesome cold night after hot daytime.
2. California has snow on mountain (only) such as Big Bear but its man made.
3. It’s really far away from my home.
4. I want the taste of an actual snow and let it fall into my hot chocolate. happy.gif

yeah i knew that california gets cooler at night and such...but it doesn't actually snow does it?

this is one of the reasons why i actually LIKE living in new jersey...

it's hot in the summer (98 or so degrees), cool in the fall/spring, and cold and snowy (atleast 2 feet a year..most of the time) in the winter.

now i want Christmas to come =( too bad it's not for a while.

hey, atleast my brithday is in a week! wooot.

Yea, my school is only about a mile and a half away, not too far in reality.. but considering I have to carry about two heavy textbooks and lal the other stuff in my backpack, an instrument, my water bottle and clothes for marching band, it would get pretty tiring.

why would I pack? I live in Georgia. And yeah, most people here have basements (I do too). No one has "cellars."

But maybe just because the timing is awful and I'm selfish *shrug*

Very few people could walk to my school. It would take forever, no matter which side you live on, and we'd likely all get run over

with a 30lb bookbag and an instrument, no f**king way. especially not in Georgia heat. I would faint. I don't ride the bus anyway, though

Umm. No...

Look, we're not even missing the amount of education that we're supposed to get each year. We're using the snow makeup days for missing these two days, so we still get the 180 days of school that we're supposed to have each year.

Know your facts before you argue.

So, a drill officer of my section called me and told me practice was back on for Tuesday, so I assumed they told section leaders to call around. However, 3 of my friends (2 of whom are also drill officers) have already told me they didn't know about it. Was this some kind of joke because I keep skipping sectionals? I am not amused. If we don't have practice, I'm going to kill her.

I wouldn't. If we had sectionals then, I would fall asleep after coming in 20 minutes late. I went to one sectional, we didn't get anything done, so the next one I came half an hour late for, and they were already done doing things. Then I had a doctor's appointment, and the next I had a shitload of homework. This past one, I went, but they were doing passoffs, and I refuse to play for any of my section leaders, so I left. So in reality, I did more than they think I did. Sorry, I don't have 5 hours to waste after school. They can't punish me, either. We never have to run laps. My section has crappy leadership all of whom I share a mutual hate with. A couple sections have to do pushups if they're late, though. My section is too heavily female dominated for that.

It’s produced by people. The snow is not made by nature.

I’m surprise you never heard of that phrase.
Interesting.  _smile.gif  I thought all of U.S states know it.
It’s been used a dozen of times in California.

No, moron, I know what man made means. However, I don't understand how you can insist the snow is man made.

I don't mind! I know we'll have to make up the days later--but highschool is STRESSFUL! I neeed a break more than anything right now =[

And wednesday is my birthday...so people will probably forget sad.gif

I think it was closed because of the hurricane in Texas thing..because the gas couldn't go through the pipes..but it didn't turn out to bad, so some people are angry because it's like closed for no reason..

Yeah, forget my previous complaints about not helping me and not wanting to lose snow days. This was really helpful. I had a lot more homework than I thought. Plus, I got to go to the movies. I enjoy this. I vote 4 day weekends always.

No I haven't heard about that until you told me. My school wasn't closing to preserve gas. O_O;;

But I'm kinda confuse on what you guys have to do when you have to preserve gas >.<;;;;; You mean you don't come on that day or you have to do something else on that day O_O besides school.
