i liked the hobbit then.

boxcar children was certainly a favorite, along with animorphs.

furtherback, i remember some henrietta the hen books, some bernstein bears books, tonka books.

doctor seuss, was of course a staple.

and then in the later years there was harry potter and the 'so you want to be a wizard' series.

I didn't mind the Hobbit in 4th grade, but I hated it when I had to read it in 7th. Honestly, how long do we need to spend walking through a forest? I never made it past the prolouge of the Fellowship

I loved Boxcar in 2nd grade. We had a huge classroom collection. I read most of Animorphs, then moved onto Everwold by the same author

I was never that fond of the Bernenstein bears. Never read the other 2, I don't think.

Ah, how does one live without Dr. Suess?

I started Harry Potter in 4th or 5th grade after James intorduced me, which was before they got popular. They got my introuble for reading during class most often, though I did all the time anyway. I only read the first of the So You Want to be a Wizards. I wasn't that fond of it. I own them though.

The first 2 His Dark Materials were good. They take a while to get into, so I never got into the last one enough to finish at all

Ohhh, yeah, I loved the Babysitters club too! Never cared for goosebumps. Wasn't scared, just thought they were lame. I read some Sweet Valley High, but not a whole lot. I like one of the random side series best

Oh yeah, I enjoyed reading Fear Street as well.

My brother read Boxcar, I think I tried to read one book and lost interest in that. I also never got into the whole Animorphs series even though did catch the show a couple of times on Nick.

Fav elemetary school books include The Boxcar Children, Dr Suess, Harry Potter, The Series of Unfrotunate Events, The Babysitters Club, the books about a babysitters club member little sister Karen.

I read Amelia Bedilia sometimes and wondered why she was so effin stupid.

The cover of the Goosbumps books kept me away.

My reading level was always insanley broad and high (in 8th grade I went from 5.3 to college level) so I could really read whatever I wanted and no one gave a damn. After first grade, I rarely ever read a book in my grade level

I liked Little House too. And Dear Americas. Motsly anything historical fiction, and fantasy so long as it wasn't too lame

Really? Mad at you why? I was always advaned, so I always made friends with people who were even further ahead than me. I did well, but the people ahead of me were always people I liked. Now I'm not ahead at all. I Do better than most in language arts, but suck in everything else right now

I was like that for a lot of middle and elementary, and then I got to high school and died. My reading level has actually gone down a lot, too. At least my speed and comprehension. Now I'm fairly dumb. I'm failing my second favorite class (history) because of a couple stupid things, and I'm astoundingly bad at math.

We got grades back on some papers in language arts, and my friend and I begged for ours early. She got 92, I got 88, I thought I did ok, but that they were graded really easily. Turned out the rest of the class all failed. Most of them didn't even pass with the 10 AP points, so I felt good, because I had BSed that thing

THOSE ARE THE TWO CLASSES IM FAILING!

I'm only failing history cause I didn't know if I needed to write a whole essay on a "short answer" question. Seriously. And it was on a test. And..i was too stupid to ask.

Wow, this is so wierd!

I got a 68 (or 78...) on a test because I'd spent the weekend studying precal which I thought was more important because I'm worse at it, and then I failed the pop quiz that was supposed to help our grades because I got a day behind on taking my notes. dskhkhsedkthjlik. He hasn't graded any essays yet. Those might help me...

Yeah, I hate how every teacher requires different things for different types of questions. I have essay and multiple choice tests separately now, since it's preparation for AP

Because I'm taking AP language and US history, I get 10 points added onto my grade in those classes

Justin, I think I was 12+ in 6th grade too. I started reading early though. Not like my sister who's in second and can't read worth shit

What history are you taking? I was actually pretty good with religions and stuff last year in world, but now that I'm in American, everything is boring and I don't care. Plus, I like my oold teacher's teaching style better. If only I'd taken pre-IB and could have taken History of the Americas with him...

Never ever, eh?
That's kind of odd.
But the book is about a boy who gets stranded in the woodland of Canada, trying to survive.
His only tool, a hatchet.
They have two sequels, but either way, the boy gets out of the woods.

Well, I read it in Elementary.
Maybe the teachers give it to their class when their ready?
Or when they're mature enough for it.

I read Goosebumps and watched it on tv.

Hardy Boys =D.

Dang Nick, FoxKids used to be really good -_-.

I loved the Boxcar Children back then, I haven't stopped reading them until the summer of fifth grade.

Oh, and the Nancy Drew series, but I was too young to understand the book at points.

It was Hank the Cow Dog. I was such a dork.

But they were good... ermm.gif

It was pretty poorly written. And I wasn't frightened or whatnot. I'd read worse by that point

Not nearly as bad as it sounds.

While I don't enjoy reading mow as much as I used to, I certainly just don't hate it. I just want my attention span back. And to read some decent books for class, also. The only one I liked last Year was The Great Gatsby

Ugh we just had to read boring books. There wasn't anything special about them

Sure, To Kill A Mockingbird influenced the times and all..but..now days? It's just..slightly boring.

And then..we had to read some book called Deathwatch? Yeah..majorly retarded there too.

and uhm..

The Oddessy, sp?, by homer. AKA as The Oddity by my dad. That was just...stupid.

Great classics...but boring as hell.

A lot of people loved TKMB, and I think I should have loved it, but it was the first book I ever had to annotate, so all the highlighting made it tedious

We read an abridged Odyssey freshman year in class. i was already familiar with it, so I read my own book during class instead

A Gathering of Old Men that year was awful

we had to read Huck Finn last year, which sucked. I didn't like it the first time we had to read if in 7th grade (we had to write an 8 page essay on it in 7th grade too, which I thought was the longest thing ever. And, to be honest, I don't think I've written anyhing that long since, and I'm a junior now.

We had to skip parts of the movie..I think. If we even watched it. I don't remember. Yes, yes we did. I'm getting it mixed up with Scarlet Letter- I'm not sure if he ever let us watch that one at all. I HATED that book. It had absolutely no point.

We read it sophomore year, and could have handled it just fine, but he does more than enough things that could get him fired as it is, without showing movies with that stuff. Great teacher, but he often taught through perversion...kind of. I loved that teacher, even if he was an impossibly hard grader. I'm going to have him again next year, at least. See, I knew I took this 2 year IB thing for a reason.

Scarlet Letter was terrible. I couldn't keep enough of an interest to read it. I thought it was supposed to be about the affair, not the lack of anything at all interesting after the baby was born

Oh, it doesn't get better. And they don't get less gay. I don't know. I often like books everyone else hates. Like Jane Eyre in 7th grade. I was literally the only person who liked that. Even the girl who suggested it hated it. I liked it, though.

No one but me liked Watership Down in 8th grade, either. They still make fun of it. But then, that teacher was retarded

Yeah, James despised Jane Eyre. I'm glad someone else liked it, though! The only other person I know who did is my mom, and it's her favorite book next to Gone With the Wind (I read that in 8th grade. Got me a shitload of AR points, since my mom has basically been telling me to love it since I was born)

Junie B. Jones was t3h awesome. I didn't really care for The Babysitters Club or Nancy Drew.
I was obsessed with the Dear America. I'd always check those out when I was in the library. I also liked the Arthur series when I was in 1st grade. Oh, and The Bernstein Bears were cool too.
