Yeah, its like that in college. If they say they want a test done in 30 minutes, you better have it done in that time frame. Most of my teachers have an no excuse policy. My school even offers a course on test taking, it works for most people. But then there always those people that aare simply not good test takers.

...I'm not sure where this goes.

Anyway, I have a girl in my class who is like that except she has actual physical problems. It's not that she is a slow test taker, but when she can't think/is stressed out about a question, she can't move her hands. I think she blacks out as well. What my teacher did is let her do the first half of the test in the morning before school and the other half during class, but she doesn't get the full period as we do. I think you just have to try to speed up during the test. I do think it's unfair, but then again, everyone or almost everyone probably second guesses themselves. It's not just you.

I write pretty slowly (I'm left handed), so it happens to me fairly often (not finishing essays or notes) and you just have to deal with it and try to take as much extra time as you can muster. I was nearly late for band today because I wasn't quite done with my precal quiz. Eh. I don't know. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

While you might not think it's fair now, when you get to college and your tests make up your whole grade, you'll be glad that you were able to get in some practice taking timed tests. My suggestion for you is to go with the first answer you get for each problem and then if you have extra time at the end, go back and check the problems that you weren't so sure about. That way, at least you have all the problems finished.

Try to deal with it as soon as you can.

I don't think that that is unfair. That's the way the SAT and those standardized tests are, timed. They will not give you any extra time for the test at all, unless you do have a physical disability... So you'll just have to stop second guessing yourself and work faster...
I'm kinda like you, where I used to be slow. But I learned to take tests faster because there will be no exceptions given.

OH I hate that!! I tried really hard on my last test to get finished and luckily I finished right when the bell rang. I remember when I had Alg. 2, if I didn't finish they'd give me extra time. darn.

ehh; talk to her about your slow tkaing test problem and maybe that teacher of yours will understand oand give lyou extra time at the end of the day or in the beginging of school the next day to finsish up. But if she already said that if you dont finish by the time runs out and she cant give more time then i dont think its THAT unfair.

Ahh, that happens to me all the time. Yeah, I tend to second-guess myself, too. It's okay :D Though you've got to learn to stop second-guessing yourself...because most tests are always timed. I guess it's just the way it is.

Ahh, we just took a Precal Readiness test, and everybody in the class didn't finish.. And she just told us to start guessing. stubborn.gif I ended up getting a 78, which wasn't that bad, compared to the other scores.

It's not unfair. Life's unfair, too, so why should school be molded to your preferences? You'd just be unprepared for the real world. This is a good thing.

Tips?
- If you don't get a question, SKIP IT. Do all your easy questions first. If you spend time on one hard question, you miss all your time to do the easy questions that you could've done maybe 10 in the time it took to do one hard question.
- Don't second guess! Go with your gut. I know, your gut's not always right. Who cares? Take chances. Better off writing down an answer than no answer at all.
- When you're doing homework, time yourself to see how long it takes you. Then train yourself to go faster.

Yea, it might seem unfair to you.. but think about it. It's preparing you for every other test you'll take in your life that is like that. Not a bad deal if you ask me. And besides, not everything in life will go the way you want it to. All I can say if improve your speed and don't second guess yourself. It's usually your first instinct that is correct. =)

I think it sucks when they dont let us finish but I think they expect us to. Since we've been through it before and I guess they think we dont need that much time to do one problem.

I've been having timed tests and exams even since I was in school... so I think it's fair. You need to learn how to manage your time well during a test so that you can write everything you need to write.

It's hard. Taking tests in such limited times.. but what I do is just plan out the time. Let's say, if there's 60 questions and you have an hour to do it, i'll take about a minute a question.. If I don't know it, I guess; then if there's time, I come back to it.

i guess your teacher is more of a college type of teacher. ususally when they set and amount of time, that's how long you have. ive never really not finished a test, though and it is kinda unfair.

Typically lefties write slower because you have to push your hand across the paper, as opposed to being able to pull it like most people

i'm left-handed too and i write plenty fast. lectures are the best.
we get a time frame, and we work in that time frame.

i actually think it's unfair that slow workers get more time than the fast workers. if you're a slow worker, you have to train yourself to work fast and well.

Tell your teacher that you are having trouble finishing your tests. She probably won't give you extra time, but maybe she can give you some tips on how to work a little faster. And don't let yourself second guess. Usually, your first answer is right.
