I was wondering what people do to presents and gifts from the ex bfs/gfs. Stuff like cards, bracelets, lockets, necklaces, rings.. Do you just trash them all after the break up? blink.gif

(I've searched for a similar topic but couldn't find anything. If there was, my apologies & feel free to close this)

Ehh, I still have them, but I put them away somewhere where I might not see it or something.

Whatever they were intended to do.
(Which indicates, give them to my little brother. whistling.gif I never got anything but toys. And candy, which doesn't count.)

I don't trash them...I still have the necklace my ex bought me...and the ballons...and pressed roses...and his clothes that he let me borrow or have...

Yeah. I'm pathetic, but I still love him.

If it's something expensive like jewelry, aren't you supposed to give it back?

depends on what it is.
expensive jewelery - keep it ;DD hehe okay, give it back.
little tokens [i.e little rings, cheap jewelry] either give it back or keep it.
cards & notes - i put them in a box i have full of memories from years back.

my exboyfriend was an immature ass so he dumped all the gifts i've ever bought him on my doorstep. EVERYTHING except the playstation!

gifts aren't supposed to be returned...it's rude. if you don't want any reminders just give the crap to the salvation army or store them away in a box for memories later on.

I usually keep it somewhere, and when I do find it one day I just laugh and put it back. Keep it for the memories, you know?

noooo please don't say that...my first ex bought me a gameboy advance when we were going out a few years ago because someone stole mine _dry.gif sure i don't play with it anymore but it's still nice to have.

it depends on what it is. if it's like old roses, receipts from stuff you bought him, and other stuff like that then you trash it. cards and letters are up for debate because it's nice to re-read nice things someone said about you but then again it's your ex and it might stir up old feelings. stuffed animals can be kept or you can give them away to younger siblings or cousins.

jewelery should only be given back if you don't want it and/or if they ask for it back. they only get 2 weeks tops because after that, they're just going to want it back to give to someone else.

My ex bought me a necklace
He was all confused why i gave it back
Sheesh
I'm no gold digger

He was mad 'cause i broke things off
We were at the beach ate the time;
So he threw it in the ocean

I don't...
I still keep them.
And I still have them now.
The things they gave me are my only rememberances of how happy we were at that time.
And I wouldn't want that to be thrown away.

I keep it all in a big box. I've been meaning to return everything to him but never got around to doing it. Yeah, lame excuse. ><

My ex-boyfriend and I are still pretty good friends, and we never really gave each other anything huge, so we both decided to just keep the little things we gave each other throughout the relationship. However, I'm sure it varies from relationship to relationship, break-up to break-up, and gift to gift.

Well, with me and my ex, I deleted all the emails that he sent me, and also all his chat logs. I kept the CD that he made for me...and pictures that we took together...just for the memory you know.

You really should only give the stuff that they gave you back to them if they asks for it back, otherwise, either keep it, give it to someone else, or donate them. It's really rude and inconsiderate to just throw somebody's gifts to you back at them.
