i am an african american gurl, and at my school there are other black ppl that make fun of each other because they are a darker complexion. i think its stupid how sum black ppl are being racsit against themselves. im dark skinned and i dont see what the big deal is about being a dark complexion is a big deal. i mean too me black is black. like today at school, this kid nick was making fun of this other black kid because he was dark. but nick is just as dark as the kid he was making fun of. i jsut dont understand, they act like being dark is a bad thing.
i am wondering if a situation like this has happened to u?? i kno that not every1 is black,  lol but i c other racist do the same thing to each other at me school

i've heard of that, i saw a movie once and this woman who was dark skinned told her child (i forget what gender) that the child's father's mother didn't like her because she was darker than a paper bag...
i think they do that because back in the day your skin color was why people didn't like you, so some dark skinned people think that they're better than you just because they're lighter...one of my teachers once pointed out that most of the famous blacks are light skinned which seems to be true... |

Well, it's because back in the times of slavery, the slaves that were lighter skinned were treated better than those that were dark skinned.
Hmm, I don't think that has really happened to me though. |

I don't think that that has really happened to me. But I saw this African American kid being picked by another African American kid, by calling him names such as "Chocolate-chipped brownie,""Plum skin," and "Black S***." That's weird.

I look Korean .. some Asians think I'm Chinese because of my ligh colored skin [just because] .. some Asians would evens speak an uknown language to me o.O but I'm pure Filipino.

I think dark skinned black people are just as beautiful as light skinned black people. It is weird you say that though because people make jokes about my sister because of how white her skin is (and she's black btw). But some people are just dumb like that. Why would you want to be racist towards you own race? I dont get it. That dosent happen too much at my school though.

Yeah I use to see that happen alot in middle school. Its was annoying and pathetic especially coming from other black people. Me being black myself, I am light skinned and there are some people that will give me grief about that. Like if your light skinned you're not "black enough" *sigh*

yea a lot black people do that..im not dark skinned but not light..im in between and if someone is super dark most likely they have gotten made fun of before..its a black thang..

That's what they use to do in Guyana. All the kids made fun of me because I'm so light. That doesn't happen in my school. It's sort of the other way around. Yes, I've seen that a lot, around here people call really dark kids "tar babies". I don't think it's cool at all, and real dark skin can be REALLY pretty, just like really pale skin can be pretty too.
