Well, I don't use one, but they aren't "girly-girl". I use to think it was, but really, it's just something you use to hold your stuff. Pockets can't hold everything.

it just depends on what your purse looks like, you know if it's all pink and sparkly and matches with your clothes exactly then i suppose it can make you a girly girl.

carrying a purse is not girly-girl. a purse is useful is many, many ways! I carry a purse at school, and I have needed things in there. I have:
pads (you never know. I haven't had my period yet) money (duh, you need your money for lunch or what-not) deodorant (sp? anyways, yeah, for gym. some school's don't let you leave stuff in the lockers for gym) make up (not really important, but you want to look pretty, don't ya?) extra pencils or pens (you might need it) so you see, it's important to carry it. even though you don't have to. |

You know, I used to think it was girly girl type of thing to have. I mean dont get me wrong, i love being a girl (At times, haha.) But during middle school to h.school. Every girl i knew carried a purse, and as for me? I didnt have one yet, because i loved carrying just a wallet. Its simple, and its affordable. Haha, and sophomore year of h.s. i finally got one, because i needed to carry my wallet,keys, cell phone, scraps of paper, chapstick, tissue,& headache medicine. First I hated it because women&girls would be looking at my purse. I was like WHAT?! ITS DAMN PURSE YO! Haha, I guess im okay with it now, but I just feel sometimes intimidated (sp?) even at 17yrs old now. That Im acting like a girl that wants to be just like mommy. Ya know? But Ill live through it.

The girls at my school have purses...I don't look good w/ purses and I don't find any that fits my taste... I have to stick to chain wallets because I know lots of pick pockets or...just guys who like reaching into my ass pockets.

 I don't think it is girly girl, I carry a all black backpack and a cloth brown purse. there are so many different ones you can carry anything to match your mood. Plus I need all my stuff and I don't like things in my pockets I like my pants pockets smooth

I'd rather carry a purse than have my belongings in my pocket, since they can easily fall out. Also, having it in a purse, it's more convenient and organized, IMO. I like purses. :]
As for it being girly-girl, I'd rather not judge someone as being girly-girl just because they carry a purse.

I use a miniature messenger bag thing. not exactly a purse. not exactly a bag. Still, I wouldn't mind using a purse because they're cute. problem is: they can't hold all the things I want to carry, and I'm not comfortable with large purses.
besides, I've seen several laid-back girls use purses. i think that only tomboys are the only ones who will absolutely refuse to use a purse. |

I think that calling it a "purse" sounds girly-girl. Actually, it reminds me of an old granny, for some reason. Or a really ugly small black purse, like this one.

i don't think so. sure, some use them as fashion statements, but i think most use them to carry around chapstick, money, cell phones, sanitary items, etc. personally, i don't carry one around school. i take a simple, tan-colored one when i'm going out somewhere, though, to carry a cell phone and money.
i mean, that is what a purse is for. |

i dont carry a purse and dont like to..its such a hassle and i dont like having something squished under my armpit...but my moms like what kind of girl r u if u dont carry a purse
i think it depends on what kind of purse..i think the armpits ones are more girly...when i have to carry something i just use one of those long strap ones across the chest and hang at my waist..i just dont like something squished under my armpit |

at first that's how i thought of them. but then i realized that there are certain things that a girl needs to hold in them at certain times. plus, all the cellphone, ipod stuff needs to go somewhere, doesnt it? i mean, in the summer, you dont have a coat plus pockets for jeans and stuff aren't deep.
and purse is a crappy word. it is girly if it's like, shiny and pink. |

I think it's a bit girly girl, but like everyone else said, it's normal for a girl to have a purse.
It just depends on what kind of purse your carrying. I love purses, but they can get annoying.
