I've heard of that. Where is it? They usually have a lot of conventions like that here in LA, Long Beach, and Anaheim.

No I haven't been but I've been dyyyying to go to one.

Um.. I think it's pointless to go to a convention about anime cartoons. What are people going to do? Dress up like Sailormoon or Tohru and run around hugging people?

Youve obviously never been to one.

Theres litterally so much to do its impossible to do it all.

I went to Anime Weekend in Atlanta, and it was amazing.

They were showing anime in some rooms, for your viewing pleasure. They had cosplay contests, AMV contests, they had interviews with dubbing actors, they had card games, DND games, video game tournies, dealer booths where you could buy anything from a harry potter scarf to hentai to swords, and of course they had other booths where people advertised stuff and sold their own drawings and things like that, plus tee shirts and various anime "props" like Miroku's staff and the like.

And thats just everything I saw on my way from one end to the other. There was so much more that went on through the night that I didnt get to see.

I've never been to one. It sounds like fun, though.

They actually just had one in Atlanta not too long ago. It was "AWA" or something. A couple of my friends went and they said it wasn't too bad.

^lol yah i've never been to one either
I'm not exactly sure what you do there?
And i'm not obsessed with anime or anything, i mean there is only one manga/anime that i love, and the others i'm not interested in. (that would be fruits basket :))
But naw, never been to a convention, lol i probably won't go to one either unless i'm there with a friend for..uh..emotional support?
lol

^ Anime conventions are also awesome. Because sometimes the voices of teh characters come and you get to meet them. I think 2 years ago I went and met the voice of Heero Yuey from Gundam Wing. and such and saw the new animes coming out and got samples posters and stuff.

From the Newtype issue I subscribed to back then. they have a list of anime conventions coming to many different locations and such. When I get my magazine back I will post up the dates and the locations.

I searched it online a while ago, and the dates seems to match up to me, so I thought I'd post it here. Well, the link anyway.

I just went to Megacon last weekend and it was freaking awesome.
There's seriously endless of things to do at an anime con:
For one, there's most of the time free photoshoots for people that cosplay.
There's amv contests, costume contest, sewing contests, Kareoke (love it), anime shows to watch all day.
You can also find all kinds of rare stuff at the dealers's room that you wouldn't even be able to find in eBay like props, character swords/weapons, anime dvds, j-pop and soundtrack cds of anything from games to animes, scrolls, costumes, anime hats, accessories, shirts, just endless of things and the best thing is that most of the time it isn't imitations. Its the real thing.
On top of that you always find celebrities there in the cons like the voice actors and stuff. At Megacon I found the the guy that originally did the Hulk, one of the most famous playboy bunnies, Claire from the tv series "Heroes". I have also met the lady that did Ash Ketchum's voice a long with the voice actors of Vegeta, Bulma, Ed and Al Elric, Piccolo, and other characters.
There's also gaming contest which include xbox, ps2s, DS, and gamecube. Its always awesome. You can win prizes and stuff too.
This is just some of the events that go on at a con.
I really recommend that any that could go should! Its so much fun and even if you do go alone you'll always make friends there by the end of the first day!
My next con is Jacon in Orlando, Fl.

I have been participating in anime cons since 2001 and cosplaying since 2002.

LOL JKJK (: <3

I should've went to AWA last year. It's always sooooo huge in Atlanta. Tons of hotels are rented out and downtown is hella crowded.

Though, I'm kinda scared of all the anime freaks. T___T Like, true, really scary, and hardcore anime freaks. Eek.
