Err, that's interestingly kinda disgusting...Heh, no matter how cheap an iBook is I wouldn't do that, I'm not a very patient person...Plus, my parents have this thing against used tech...

Haha, it reminds me of concerts, everyone's dieing to get to the front row.

This is like...a once in a lifetime chance. But:
QUOTE
Jesse Sandler said he was one of the people pushing forward, using a folding chair he had brought with him to beat back people who tried to cut in front of him.

That's just...unbelievably crazy..

I can't believe some of the responses I'm hearing. I just can't see trading in your self respect for a laptop as a reasonable thing. People on Fear Factor do it for $50,000, these people were acting uncivilized for $50!

Jesse Sandler's quote is golden:

"I took my chair here and I threw it over my shoulder and I went, 'Bam.' They were getting in front of me and I was there a lot earlier than them, so I thought that it was just." [1]

LOL that's funny. This topic reminds me of my topic, man dies after game marathon. LOL... but different. she didnt die.

QUOTE
RICHMOND, Virginia (AP) -- A rush to purchase $50 used laptops turned into a violent stampede Tuesday, with people getting thrown to the pavement, beaten with a folding chair and nearly driven over. One woman went so far to wet herself rather than surrender her place in line.

LOL!! hahaahahahahaahahahahahaaha. sorry... it just reminds me when that happened when i was in alaska. all the expensive clothes went decreased to 50 cents... lol. i remember someone pushed me to the ground and they were stepping on me.

wow. that's crazy. $50 for a laptop. are you sure they work out well?

i feel bad for that cop. his face expression looked like someone stabbed him with a knife lol..

4 year old apple top? umm that's old.

QUOTE
People threw themselves forward, screaming and pushing each other. A little girl's stroller was crushed in the stampede. Witnesses said an elderly man was thrown to the pavement, and someone in a car tried to drive his way through the crowd.

wow...that's crazy. girl's stroller was crushed. O_O

i wonder how many got sold.

you know what's funny

I LIVE WHERE THIS HAPPEND

i know people that were there....i could drive to where they were selling ibooks in like 5 mins....

see...here's the story behind this

in my county all the high & middle schoolers got ibooks. well...the contract with apple ran out and we're switching to dells....but we have a bunch of ibooks left over so they started selling them for 50 bucks.

it may sound like a good deal but these ibooks were total crap. seriously. the one i had last year...we broken all year long. so yeah...but i know people got there in line as early as 1 in the morning pinch.gif

but yeah i go to school & live in henrico county and i find it funny that this is making the national news and stuff...haha

Sure it's cheap, but they were 4 years old! I mean they weren't that great, I don't think it's worth it.

That reminds me of that scene in War of the Worlds where they lose their car...

Anyway, I'd stand there for a long time and literally fight my way through the crowd to get my hands on a $50 laptop, too.

Yeah, and I agree-that guy with the chair was right in brutally whacking the line cutters.

||edit||

Never mind. I wouldn't go that far if the iBooks were utter crap...
