There are plenty of tutorials and scripts in the Myspace section of Createblog to suffice you.

Besides, we all had to learn how to make div overlay and such. You guys need to actually look around and find it for yourselves.

This forum is for help with things that don't work, not to have someone do something for you.

I'm sorry but i have spent the last 45 minutes looking over this ENTIRE site!
I see NO MySpace FULL Tutorial...only bits an pieces of different codes for a Custom comment box ect...i see people have posted a FULL tutorial for Xanga skins and what not but NOTHING for MySPace...It's like some big secret as to how to make a custom layout! Don't you think it would be easier for us Newbies and those who are just looking to make their own Layouts to post a FULL MySpace Layout Tutorial?????

I can appreciate wanting ppl to teach themselves but I do not appreciate rudeness. There are better ways to say 'look around and you can learn like we did' without being such a b*tch about it. Keep that in mind the next time you decide to post something like this. People come to you for help, not your attitude.

I totally AGREE!!!! There are people here that are VERY Rude and Ungreatful...just becuase YOU taught yourself how to do all this stuff DOES NOT mean everyone else can do the same...I for one am a Visual Learner.i cannot just read some code and understand it! Some people have been taught HTML in College or school..some of us it looks like Chineese to us! I understand becuase some here know EVERYTHING you can get frustrated with Questions that to you are kindergarden level. but as BraenwenFaire stated there is NO EXCUSE to be harsh and rude about it! We ALL are newbies at some point here! you all were too!
I think most people want some of this tutorial stuff in Lamens Terms..some tutorials here are written like we ALL are supposed to know what a CSS is or what a "Div" is or even how to read HTML.....if your going to have this site to help people..Be KIND and Patient and Willing to help the Uneducated!

^ lol True myspace layout's have been like the biggest secret going around. I searched many times just looking for a clue in on how to start making it. I even read up on CSS , a whole tutorial about it to get better understanding so i understand some of the terms of it. But i have figured it out alitte bit , still overwhelmed though. I'll credit this for having the most tutorial help for myspace , i have probably only seen one other site that has a tutorial and it was like u said in chinnese to me. Im going to read up on the tutorial that is supposed to be somewhere here and try ot check again. But their really is no reason for anyone to get rude, when someone is asking, alot of us havn't been taught this stuff or have difficult time learning stuff by ourselfs and new a path or explanation. But i can understand y people get angry at times, having people bug u about stuff that may look trivial too u.

Hmmmmmm you people need to understand something.

Yes, we were all newbies. But look where we got with a little hard work! I, myself, have been coding and making layouts for almost 2 years, and I'm only at this point. How do you expect me to cram 2 years worth of HTML knowledge into your head so you can make a div layout?

People need to start at the basics. This topic was targeted at the influx of topics titled "how do i make a layout?". I, nor anyone else, can simply teach you how to make a layout. It doesn't happen. To teach people how to make a div overlay layout on Myspace, the person has to actually know what we're doing. There are overlay tutorials on this site - I know, I made them. There are also plenty of basic HTML and CSS tutorials. But you can't just look through them all in one day. You have to start at the basics and improve your skills from there.

No one can teach you how to make a complete layout if you know nothing about HTML, especially if they can't be sitting next to you.

I, too, am a visual learner, but I've worked hard for a long time to gain the knowledge I have, just like everyone else who makes layouts has also. There's a big difference between helping someone and doing it for them. To know how to make layouts, you have to put in work. Simple as that. I am here for help, yes - help. When something doesn't work, you can run and ask me. But as far as "how do i make a layout?", I can't help you, and neither can anyone else. It's a gradual process, just like Math in school. You don't learn Calculus right off the bat, do you? No, you have to start at the basics and work your way up from there.

yeah i agree...if you`re gonn have a help site then you need to help ppl and not just say WELL! YOU`RE ON YOUR OWN NOW! I mean...wtf?

thats what helping is...no one really wants anyone to DO something for them...just have the time and patients to SHOW them how to do something. That`s all. Cuz my friend just asked me to make her a myspace layout and I came here looking for a tutorial....no where to be found...that`s crazy.

^ This thread is not really helping you to make a layout. IF you look at the pinned topics under it they can. As well as scripts. There is a tutorial on div overlaying which can help you with a div overlayout layout . The topic is pinned under this one.

I agree with `so[CONFUSED]*. This person makes a good point and so do a lot of other people on this blog or whatever it is.

I asked an associate of mine how'd she get her page like she has it and she said and I quote "Go to www.createblog.com. It should HELP you. One of the head people helped me make mine, they should help you with yours."

There are allot of tutorials. If you even read the pinned topic here
http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=84325
you find out how to make a basic myspsace w/ tables. You just need to take the time and search old topics and read.

woah... yall sound like cats and dogs up in here... Like f***... But honestly, this entire like "please dont ask how to make a layout" topic sounds like a battle between the "newbies" and the "pros or helpies or watever the ones who know wats going on wanna call themselves"

I am no expert at ANY of this sh** trust...

But like straight up... I know attacking eachother aint gonna help none of you guys ("newbies" or "pros")...

I may be way out of line but, Im gona make a suggestion to both sides and hope it helps u guys ultimately help eachother...

...

k, like in regards to the problems between the "newbies" and the "pros":

I have to admit that i agree that there is no reason to be rude... I mean honestly if ur not gonna say anything constructive why even say it at all??? Besides doesnt that like just take p more space on the "forumn" or watever this things called???
...
BUT "newbies" need t realize that just because this is a forumn" (or watever) doesnt mean to automatically post a question the second u get here...

Cuz I can GUARANTEE that it already probably been answered a good 5 to 10 times in different ways...

Now the "newbies" need take a step back and lookat it from the "pros" pint of view...

These guys are sitting behind there computers trying to help u learn wat it is u wanna lear, but how the HE** do uexpect them to do what they are here for when u come at them with questions such

"how do I make a layout?"

Do u realize how many different ways there are to do one layout... let alone how many options are open to you to in the sense of creaivity and just how u want it all to look and come together???

Id be pissed he fu** off to if I had a sh** load a mutha f**kers who came at e constantly with...

"Can u tell me how to mak a layout" when

1. they dont even kno what they want to be on it...
2. they donteven have a basic "outline" r nething for it...

(and when I say "outline" right there... I dont mean the code outline... I mean

"OUTLINE" as in

a. do u want a pic in ur extended nextwork
1) if so wat pic
2) if not, do u wanna just
A-leave it alone altogether
or
B-take the entire extended network section off ur profile...

b. Is your blog ever going to have blogs in it???
1) if so how do u want all that to look
2) if not are u gonna
A-leave it there to just "muck-up" ur page
or
B-get the entire secion the fu** off ur page???
c. In your about me section
1) will u have
A-just code
or
B-code and text
2) will there be any pics?
A-how will they be alighned if so???

thats what i mean by "outline"...

Basically, you gotta have some kind of a blueprint NO MATTER HOW FU**ING SIMPLE it may be... And I dont even wanna hear that u dont know what it is or how to have one cuz its called ur IMAGINATION "newbies"...

If u didnt hae some kind of a blueprint in ur head already then u would't be here... Cuz if there was no blueprint in ur head wat would be the purpose of tracking down this site...?

Exactly...

Now, unfortunately... because a lot of "newbies" dont know how to "word" what they are trying to do... (and they ESPECIALLY since they dont want to have to look through the forumns that they dont understand anyways) this is why they just start their own topic...

Personally, I like the way its broken down on this site with your categories to each topic... But u have ALL images shit together... and since people look at the bold sh** more than everything else... They probably dont see that little bit of text after the bold that says "level: beginner" or "level:advannced"....

Ur best bet is to make it to where when u click on the tutorials or forumn and all that crap have ur MAIN 3 categories be BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED
...
Then Have all the BEGINNER photosh** in a category labeled images inside the BEGINNER caegory... and so on and so on...

I know that this thing is probably REALLY hard to follow... But for the past 4 hrs that Ive been getting interrupted by my mutha FU**ING roommate about BULLSH** I havent been focusing very well... Plus Ive been awake the past 2 and a 1/2 days STRAIGHT... So once I either get silence or wake up from some NEEDED sleep... Ill be on here to correct this... But this is wat I can do for now...

But ill definitely revise this either sometime throughout today or tomorrow night... Ight...

But u guys stop trippin... lol... Come on... Im sure u guys r smart enough to pull it together... I know ya'll can...

Im getting so delirious right now... My heads all light and crap... lol... I gotta go... Ill fix this post later... Bye and Be Safe...

I know a lot of people been arguing about making layouts and such, but I put my own photoshop designs in the background and extended network without making a layout from scratch. What I mean is that I grab someone's code and replace the urls with my own. I have no clue about about making layouts so I just tinker with someones layout to customize it to make my own. Would that be wrong in ne way?

^ Not really other than if your taking the layout from there myspace then your stealing. Basically everyone just has to take the codes from here and like you do replace them with there own its not hard. That is your layout. Your layout is what you make it to be. The default myspace layout is a layout.

ok, all you people that say, "i dont appreciate rudeness all i want is help"
think of it this way, if you taught yourself how to do something and then all of a sudden hundreds of people are asking the same question over and over again without even trying to find the answer themselves because they are just that lazy. you'd be pissed too. you arent the only one who wants help.
im no myspace expert but i have taught myself a little.
if you want go to my myspace
<a href="www.myspace.com/enjoisk8r647">here</a>
so all the people that dont understand myspace stuff i didnt at first either but take some time and learn dont be so impatient.
so take time, look around the site, its helped me a ton. it'll help you to.

Well seeing as how there are a bunch of OLD topics, I don't think that I would even want to take the time to look through all those. I don't have the time and even if I did, I wouldn't.

Yeah, thats your Goddamned problem. All you newbies are too lazy to even START learning. We all had to start somewhere, and way back when, we didn't have this blessed site to start learning. We learned by ourselves - put OUR OWN MONEY into books, spoke up to our friends, people we didn't know, looked at the sources of different webpages. I bet all of you have barely even looked into a layout code. You just saw that big long code and thought, "crap that thing is long I'M NOT GOING TO WASTE THE TIME AND READ IT, EVEN IF THAT MEANS I CAN UNDERSTAND IT, AND MAYBE EVEN LEARN!! Then I post a bashing topic on the lovely createblog.com saying that they won't teach us, when that is what the site is for". You know how I started learning HTML? By wanting to make bold and colored text. Really. I saw somebody's bolded and colored text on a myspace bulletin and thought, "Man that looks pretty. Hm, if I press "reply", then I'll probably be able to see what made it that way." And you know what I saw? I saw bold tags, italics, font colors and sizes. But oh, how did I understand them, and know what each meant? I used my common sense. I opened up the bulletin in another window and matched the pretty text to the coded text. Then one day, I was tired of just making the text pretty, and found that my layout had a font I didn't like, and I didn't want the link hover code to be FFCC00. I searched google for a html help site. I got lissaexplains.com, htmlgoodies.com, whateverlife.com, and a lot of others. I took my time (The time that I could've been spending doing something else, I might add.) to look all over the site, every single link I could find. I went back to my myspace layout. I changed the text font, and I changed the color code of my hover link. But I did a LOT more - I changed the background color, the table color, I even made my own image using Gimp - and I was referred to it from one of those sites. Before I knew it, my page looked O.K. But it was something completely me. It was nothing special, but I loved it. My first layout, what joy. But that wasn't all in my layout - I had scrollboxes, comment boxes, pretty scrollbars - THE WORKS. I was so proud. You just need to learn BY YOUR SELF. And hey, I'll give you a hint. There's a VERY VERY easy tutorial about how to make a CSS Style Sheet from lissaexplains.com. I'm not going to give you the link, though. You need to find it yourself. And on the way there, you'll find a lot of other things. Really neat tools that can make your myspace or webpage awesomely cooly totally radical. It's how A LOT of people here learned HTML, and how to make layouts. Be one of them.

And btw, the first post was not rude AT ALL. It was direct, upfront, and forward. She was laying down the law. If there is one post in this whole topic it would be mine, and I admit it. I'm pretty Goddamned pissed right now at all of you lazy newbies. None of you even WANT to learn - you just want to PRETEND to learn while some blessed, awesome person tries to explain how to make a layout, and when they have it all done, you'll just copy and paste that layout into your myspace. Assholes.

Assholes.

ok,first off,not all newbies are lazy ok! I am a newbie here and I just came to this forum and saw this topic, who are you to say we're all lazy? yes,i have to agree with you, that one guy was a lazy a-hole.no doubt about that.they way you were stating everything was rude.yes,i understand, everyone who is pro at making layouts or comment boxes or whatever probably did have to learn by themselves, but all some of us n00bs are asking is for a little help.some people may be like...stalker help, but not all.and you know what,i didn't even know you acually should start at the basics like comment boxes or fonts or stuff like that.I just found that out! people won't know right off the bat 'oh i should start with the basics'.ypu have to be patient with some people.just telling them to go find out themselves, even thought it was just direct, upfront, and forward,it could hurt peoples feelings. And as stupid as that sounds, its true.people like me have very sentimental feelings and to have someone like that say something like that is harsh in a weird way.and ok,i DO want to learn ok.i dont want to pretend like some 5 eyar old,i acually would like to learn how to do stuff like this! and calling people assholes and stuff like that is not a way to confront this situatiion..even thought i admit i did it a couple times in this reply too.

Wow. I have been reading this whole entire post and I have not found anyone who said anything that made me sit there and think "Ah shit."

I came here looking for someone to educate me, as I am a "newbie", on "how to make a myspace layout."
After reading what "I own yourr face" had so say, I'm stunned. I'm impressed.
I agree with you 100% percent.
I am a "newbie" and you've just amazed me with what you have to say that I honestly feel ashamed of being a little bratty ass "newbie" looking for someone to inlighten me and make my days simpler by teaching me something that "pros" have been working on for awhile now.

I have to agree with your want of learning to make the bold a colored text. I know exactly that feeling because that's what I was doing in December. Last summer, I got a message from someone with PURPLE font. Oh man, it was super cool! I wanted that font so bad! December, I asked an HTML buddy of mine, and he just TRIED (bless him) to teach me about <b>bolding</b> my text. Yeah, I can change font sizes, font faces, colors, and italics, bold, underlined, and strike outs... but I had forgotten how frustrated I was when I couldn't remember how to do it the first time. Now I think "God, it's so easy!" but then I thought "How the f**king hell do people memorize this shit?"

I feel like the "a-hole" you've described. I've been using the same layout on my myspace since December, but I used it from someone else's hard work.
I'd like to show my appreication to who honestly made my layout, but that's not what I want to say.
I want to say that, we are LAZY dumb ...shits. WE ARE. I see a bunch of people complaining about the first person's post but not realizing that they weren't even rude. Rude would really be if they said "go figure" to how to do it. They didn't, so stop playing your dumb ass cry baby shit.

You're looking for VISUAL learning? What more can you get from MYGEN.CO.UK?
There you go. Sorry for my advertising of another site, but really, that's as close as you can get to VISUAL learning.

I feel so ashamed to be a "newbie" ... but I'm so happy that someone who has some balls such as "I own yourr face" knocked me back into some sanity.

Jesus christ, I feel like an "a-hole".
