i just downloaded smart FTP..and i understand how to upload files (really i do)...but what do u use the download for? if u upload files onto the server..what is the downloading function for? i know this is probably a stupid question, but ftp...not my thing.

To download files from a server to your computer (the opposite function of uploading files to a server from your computer).
