i didn't see a topic made about this yet. i have never heard of it until today, really.

Mooncup, what is it?
QUOTE
a reusable menstrual cup around two inches long and made from soft silicone rubber. It is worn internally like a tampon but collects menstrual fluid rather than absorbing. Unlike tampons the Mooncup is not a disposable product, so you only need to buy one

imo it looks uncomfortable but it is made out of "soft silicone rubber" but i don't know. i couldn't imagine inserting that, i already have issues with tampons but hey. since it is reusable, i think it might be a hassle washing it out. the whole process just seems unsanitary

Hehe! Looks interesting. The instructions looks odd though.. Iuno. Actually, the whole thing looks odd, but hey, if it helps, I'd buy it. Too bad I wouldn't pay $17 for such a thing. :[

I don't really get it....like what if it tipped? or spilled? I'm sure it works fine if you do it right, but if you put it wrong, you could be royally screwed.

umm that is something I dont think I would use. I mean.. what if you're in between classes and it's full? do you dump it out in the toilet? It seems like it would get messy and if I came out of the stall with blood all over my hands, that would look a little weird pinch.gif

I would feel uncomfortable with something sticking in my vagina.

I'd prefer pads, thanks.

Never thought of that, but that makes sense now.

i don't think its possible for it to really tip or spill, it holds 30 ML of fluid.

it does seem like a hassle but i don't think anybody would dump/rinse it out in public. besides it holds a lot already

wow! they have divacups too, but they're basically the same thing. divacup

no. it holds more fluid than tampons/pads ever would. i somewhat agree with the uncomfortable part but it is made from the "soft silicone rubber"

It seems like it would be messy.

Some of the testimonials are.. kind of comical laugh.gif

QUOTE
We just got ourselves a mooncup each and are skipping with joy that is mooncupness. the little bags are really cute and the liitle blue ribbons are very pretty. but the actual moncup itself looks kind of scary and medical and we think they should come in different colours and maybe with sparkles. just because something is useful doesn't mean it can't be pretty too. Other than this we think mooncups are fabulous and are currently attempting to convert all our friends to the wonder of mooncups.

p.s. would it be possible to get some more stickers. I made the foolish mistake of getting my new mooncup out to show my sister while in a bar with
some friends and some of the boys decided they wanted to wear the stickers."

from the site "The Mooncup can be cleaned in the same way as baby equipment: with sterilising fluid, or by boiling for five minutes in an open pan of water" well if you're going to use it for yourself, why wouldn't you wash it properly..

Well, it's 17 pounds, so it's roughly $30 American.
It's an interesting concept but too expensive and does seem like it'll be messy.

idk actually i think it doesn't sound that bad... as long as it's not so big that its uncomfortable. id just be really worried that it would be unsanitary. tampons are so annoying to put in, and then when it stops and then starts again but only for like 10 minutes and at the end of the day i cant get the tampon out. that's so annoying...

It doesn't look that bad to me.

What I'm worried about is whether you can wear it to sleep...I mean, wouldn't it tip over once you lie down? mellow.gif

It looks pretty comfortable...I've never used a tampon, so I wouldn't know how it feels, but like it said, it's made of soft silicone rubber...so it should be okay...right?

Well, it's good that it would save you money and be more economical, I guess...

"The Mooncup can be cleaned in the same way as baby equipment: with sterilising fluid, or by boiling for five minutes in an open pan of water."

Ew, I would never use one of my pans for that.
And what, you boil it everyday? Fat chance, sista.
