It's natural to be jealous or angry, but just be happy for him. I think it's sweet that he's in love. At least try to get to know her, not the effect she's having on your dad (even though it seems to be positive?).
Don't be immature. Try to imagine what it's like to be in her situtation. She has it tough, because you're bound to dislike her. Be nice. |

COMMUNICATION
Alright. IMO, I think you should talk to your dad. Say how much you dislike her, but i would leave out the condom details. Tell him, and maybe he'll get her to lighten up. IMO, also, your dad needs to worry about you more than her. You should be his first priority in his life, and really, he needs to know that. Just let him know how you feel. It can make the world of difference. |

And in this situation, I think it's the mature decision to suck it up and think about other peoples' happiness. I can understand why one would be upset, but this is something that requires a little selflessness. |

Oh good god.
When you have kids, they become your number one too. If his girlfriend really is a pain, then she should talk to her dad. Sure maturity is important, but really, if your dad was going out with a woman that you hate what would you do? You'd get mad...and try to act like an angel..but come on..if you're not that happy you still should tell your dad. |

QUOTE(sprinkle-the-stars @ Aug 8 2005, 5:59 PM) But apparently he was changed in a good way. He's happy. It's true that if you're unhappy with his new relationship, you should talk to him, but more importantly, why don't you give her a chance before you decide you don't like her? Think maturely. ^ Is what I'm saying. |

sweets...do you not like her because you're jealous that she's taking up all his time and you don't get to be with him as often anymore? that happens a lot...
she's making him happy and it's not really a drastic change if he has sex...he's had sex before after all that's why you're here. try to make nice with his new girlfriend...that would make your father really happy that his two favorite girls are having fun together. but if that doesn't work out...then talk to your dad. |

You haven't given any reasons for hating her based on anything she has done. Expecting your father to stay the same to satisfy you is selfish. Based on what you wrote it sounds like you might be jealous of his happiness. Like many others have said...talk to him and tell him how you feel. You'll feel a lot better. My guess is your dad and his g/f already sense your emotions and feelings.

your dad's happy, why not give her another chance, you might just end up finding out that she is a good person afterall, instead of wasting your time disliking her.

That scenario was not part of the original post. If it were the case, without any compelling motivation for her disliking the g/f, it is a selfish perspective. It is not fair to dislike her for spending time with her father. He has the right to maintain adult relationships. |

Telling your dad will only upset him and make it more difficult for him to have a regular relationship. No, a regular life.
Talk to HIS GIRLFRIEND. Spend more time with her and get to know her better. Then no relationship can get spoiled and you'll be better friends with someone that might just be your mom |

QUOTE(AkaRyux @ Aug 9 2005, 1:36 PM) Telling your dad will only upset him and make it more difficult for him to have a regular relationship. No, a regular life. Every healthy parent/child relationship is defined by open and honest communication. Continuing to maintain a relationship with her father w/o talking about her feelings won't create an opportunity for the issue to be resolved. By talking to her father, he will be able to share his feelings about his new relationship. She will also have the opportunity to talk about the change in their relationship. The g/f is only illuminating the issue. Although she is the focal point of hatred, she is not doing anything to create ill-will other than existing in a relationship w/ this girl's father. Again, the father/daughter relationship is the core of the issue. |

Tell him you don't like her after she starts doing something you really don't like. |

Yea, that happened to me, only he married her and became business partners with her in their clothing business. IF she is a really cold hearted person, time will tell and hopefully he will figure it out (like my dad did, cause they got divorced). I found it really hard to approach him and say I didn't like her, because I felt like if he was happy, it shouldn't be my place to try and end it.

Try talking to both of them seperately. Maybe the gf really wants you to like her, but doesn't realize she's doing the wrong thing. Talk to your dad about how you feel. Don't let any jealousy come in your talk to make your opinions biased. Don't worry, it'll be fine in the end. My dad had a girlfriend too before. She was pretty nice to me...
