That depends. Are you interested in pop punk or the pure stuff? If you're going for the real thing, the only stuff I'd suggest from the aforementioned bands would be The Transplants and Rancid.

For old school punk rock, go with the classics. The Ramones, The Clash, and The Sex Pistols are pretty good. Some good recent bands would be Bad Religion, The Misfits, Flogging Molly, and The Dropkick Murphys.

The Dead Kennedys -- definitive and original
Bad Religion -- political and simple, great political punk
Circle Jerks -- hard, fast and old school
Husker Du -- melodic punk from the 80's
Gwar -- noisy, nonsensical combo of metal and punk
The Meatmen -- think Gwar combined with NOFX

and yea, theres always The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, The New York Dolls, Blondie, Fear, and other old school 77 punk.

I used to be pretty decent into the punk scene...and still once in a while get a taste for it.

I like most of those previously mentioned...another good one is Social Distortion.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE ISN'T PUNK.

Anyway, I listen to mostly pop-punk, try these bands out:
Lagwagon
Millencolin
Strung Out
New Found Glory
No Use For a Name
Rise Against
Midtown
A Wilhelm Scream
Bad Religion
The Suicide Machines
Against All Authority
Anti-Flag
MxPx
Big D And The Kids Table
Pennywise

If you're gonna check out Blink 182 and Green Day, check out their older albums first.

Everyone took all the good suggestions. T__T Now, I'm trying to think of real punk bands...Did you ever specify the punk you were looking for? I didn't see it in the topic...
*transplants
*dropkick muphys [i don't care for them much]
*sex pistols
*the clash
*the ramones
...I was just looking at the shows for Warped Tour && they're not quite punk anymore. I just decided to stop w/ my list because I might get flamed for posting non punk bands.

Ah, Mindless Self Indulgence is industrial-jungle-P**sy-punk...haha, give them a listen to.

The Germs
The Offspring
Bad Brains
Misfits
Stiff Little Fingers
The Queers
Bloodhound Gang

Politics aren't exclusive only to punk rock, though. Bob Marley's music had a political bent, and he's certainly not a punk artist.

Yeah your right but attitude is more to punk then anything else(Watch Punk:Attitude It's a good documentry.

Also Sex pistols arent a joke. Also they werent manufactured they quit EMI. Without them you wouldnt have alot of the punk bands today.(And you had suggested Death For Cutie as punk. when you know thier indie idiot)

It really depends Simple Plan's record label say thier punk But we all know thier not.
Punk these days it really hard to find. Its not on the radio thats for sure.
Punk nowadays is crap well what the labels are trying to pass as punk. If you try some indie labels like Punkcore you'll find some good punk bands.

Yes, but punk is also a music style, and punk music doesn't have exclusive rights to an antipolitical/antisocial attitude.

In the end it's all just a label anyway, and doesn't really matter, but for the purposes of genre-ing, I wouldn't label Rage Against the Machine's sound as "punk".
