This year our high-school is taking a new approach. They call it the "Freshmen Academy". Basically what it is, it`s one part of the school is gonna be reserved for freshmen ONLY. We (upper-classmen) are not allowed to traspass their "territory". I guess it`s to seperate the freshmen from us cuz we give `em bad ideas. laugh.gif We are a bad influence lol.

But what sucks is that I will no longer be able to hit on the lil freshmen... _dry.gif

Some of `em lil shorties be HOTT. dribble.gif

Is your school something like this?

That's just stupid and unfair. It's just as elitist as having a separate area at the school just for upperclassmen. The upperclassmen should have isolated areas especially for sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well. _dry.gif

Luckily, my school doesn't have a system like that. We're free range... like chickens.

I am going to be a freshman when I go to high school this year. But no, my school isn't like that. That would suck if our school decided to try that.

wow that's dumb. that's sure gonna help the freshmans be ready for sophmore, huh.

but we don't have that. but what we have is that freshmans go to school a day earlier than soph/junior/seniors so it's just freshmans.

Yea, my school is already like that. BUT the freshman dont have a seperate area they just have all their classes in one building except maybe one or two in the main building. Dont worry if its anything like mine you'll run into plenty of freshmen.

aww, that is really unnecessary. it's a good experience for freshmen to be with people older than them, especially after middle school and being stuck with the same people. if I were a freshman, I would want to be with somewhat older kids. shifty.gif

Actually my school is not like that at all. My school is more segregated by race instead of upper classmen and lower classmen. Like all the Asian ppl and white ppl eat in the West Caferteria, then everyone else eats in the East caferteria. And for the record theres nothing wrong with someone who's in a higher grade liking someone in a lower grade.

this past year i was a freshman and we had that at our school.. but it wasnt a seperate building or area that like upperclassman couldnt go in.. it was just the way they structured things. you were kind of grouped with the same people for classes.. and they changed it so you had to have english & math all year instead of just a semester [since we have blocked scheduling]. there was a whole bunch of other stuff too.. uhh yeahh i didnt like it much. i mean you still got to see upperclassman it wasnt like what youre saying.. but the whole grouping and all year classes and this other stuff wasnt doing the purpose they wanted it to do.

funny you guys have it tho.. our school even called it the freshman academy too. tongue.gif

well, my schools going to do something like that... i go to an arts school, and we have 4 art areas: music, art, dance, theatre. so they want to separate all the art areas....which'll suck.

yeah. but they aren't called what yours is called. accept everyone has their own territory. there is a freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior separation. "communities" are what i think they call it. i don't think that we aren't allowed to trespass eachother's territory though.

two high schools in my school district is like that, well actually a little more different. they have a ninth grade center so it's like two seperate schools, one just for ninth graders and another one for the 10-12th graders -_- glad i'm not going to either one of those schools. biggrin.gif

my school actually has freshman acadamy too, but they only started it last year, so i wasnt involved, and i wouldnt have been anyway since its not for everyone- mainly those in cp and some honors classes, and since im in gifted and honors (and now ap and ib) i wouldnt have been included

i dont know much about it, but a lot of their classes are located closer together than everyone else's, and next year theres going to be a freshman acadamy pod where most of the classes are. they also take a lot of field trips- ie, the zoo, renaissance festival, six flags, etc

it sounds like fun, but it only helps people who arent taking challenging classes

yeah, i thought it was dumb too- itll be yet another culture shock this year- but if you start off liking high school, maybe you wont hate it all the way, like me

My school is starting it this year too. I posted about it another topic kind of like this once. I'm gonna be a senior too. I don't care much for it though, I can see both sides for the reasoning of why my school decided to do it. I'm not remotely interested in someone that much younger than me anyhow.

just think...theyre gonna get picked on as sophomores now...

thats like my school. it got so big they had to make a "freshmen center" to house the freshmen. so now we can just pick on them as sophomores.

Well, my school isn't big enough to have a seperate area closed off for freshman. But I wouldn't mind it!! It's not so much because they're freshman, it's just the class coming up. A bad bunch. So they should isolate that class all through high school. biggrin.gif

But no, we're free to go where we please.

ehh not really. well we have 3 or was it 4 sections. Section A which are the stairs. And then theres B, C and D. D was just added to the school; so its brand new.

and Our school has something like the group of Science and Tech. Media & Art and then theres Law and Humanities (me). We all belong in different parts of the school. Sci and Tech go to section D. Media and Art go to C and Law and Humanities goes to B. So most of our classes are in those sections.

what absolutely bewilders me is that a bunch of people (who haven't known me too long) at my school can't tell if i'm a freshman or a sophomore.
