Man there is not like "set time" and stuff to ask a person to prom. I waited till the last minute. I really wanted to go with someone I can be really happy with. Someone who has that potentially girlfriend credential, but at the same time fun and out going. You dont have to ask people out early, but later in the year things will be so much more different. Just wait it out, see whos availible, and when you feel like your ready, just ask em

Probably a month or two before prom, so she can get everything ready (dress, and stuff). Now is definitely too soon...

you need to ask someone as soon as possible (probably when prom season starts and your school is hyping it) because if that person rejects you or if something comes up and he/she can't go then you'll need to find another date and there might not be any time left if you do it last minute.

plus, if you had your heart set on someone and you wait until last minute someone else probably will ask her/him before you.

ask someone when you find the right girl you want to take. your feelings might change if you ask months in advance, and you might get a girlfriend and whatnot.

maybe you should ask a little bit after tickets start selling. i don't know if it's the same everywhere, but our ticket prices go up each week so yea. don't ask too early if you feel like you might change your mind about the girl..but like everyone else said, if you really have your mind set on someone, ask them earlier by a month or two-ish..

I'd ask someone ( if I was a guy) a month in advance. That way she has time to think about going, buying a dress and whatnot. Yeah, that seems appropriate. Or when tickets start selling.

Well I have Sr. prom next school year, and I am hoping that someone asks me very early, because its easier to plan that way. I also have friends that already have their dates and everything set up.

one month would be very late.. and 4/5 months would be too early.

I would have to go with 1 1/2 months-3. 2 months before would be a very good time though. You want to make sure you ask somebody before they're taken and they need time to plan for it.

I asked... exactly a month before prom XD
And I was freaking out already because everyone had started asking.

The main thing in our school was to think of really really cute ways to ask them.

During a track meet, a girl and a couple of her friends held up a huge banner that said the runner's name and the question: Would you go to prom with me? It was during his race.

Best one I've heard was my friend who asked his girlfriend.
They were both in the car and he was driving, couple miles pass and a cop turns on his lights and signal for them to pull over. The cop asks him his license and registration asked him how fast he was going, and my friend said he didn't know and said probably within speedlimit.
[Disclaimer, our city cops are shitters that have nothing to do but to give parking and speeding tickets] Anyways, my friend started freaking out when he said he couldn't find the registration and thats when the cop told him to get out of the car and his girlfriend started getting really freaked out and was almost in tears when the cop told my friend to sit in the back of his car. The cop had ask for permission to search the car and with permission took a look at the trunk, he pulls out a sign saying "Will you go to prom with him?" and the cop was pointing at my friend and the girlfriend started crying and was Sooo surprised.

The cop was my friend's boyscout leader person. hahahaa.

I went stag. shrug.gif It's more fun that way esp since prom at my highschool was always complete shit. Everyone only went to prom to find out where the afterparty was going to be.

Usually seniors at my school ask like two weeks after Sadies. Sadies is usually mid-March so beginning of April?

I think you shouldn't ask super early because there's like Winter Formal and everything...

Sadies is where the girls ask the guys out, instead of the other way around.

I'd personally ask a month or so before prom -- gives time to get plans ready, talk about it with your date, etc. My date asked me two months before, so I had tons of time beforehand to make plans. :]

Our Sadies was called King of Hearts <3
Those had some crazy asking moments.
But that was in Feburary, mainly after Valentines. How romantic right? lolz

Ugh our plans got shafted when our suppose to be limo ended up being some shuttle bus for like disable kids (it had a f**king lift), though they tried to pimp it out with ugly curtains and some color lights it was still soo ghetto. and even worse the driver got us almost late =_=; (they close doors after a certain time so they can start dinner)

Two or even three months for me. Sometimes I have weekends booked months in advance, and most of my weekdays are finished off the week before.
