Awesome issue, guys! And thanks again for interviewing me.

Oh, and I also wanted to point out that Eva Mendez wasn't in Crash. I think you may have gotten her confused with another Latina actress, Jennifer Esposito. wink.gif

And I'm really pleased that you gave positive ratings and reviews for two of my favorite films, Crash and Requiem For A Dream.

anna had something (a family dinner or something) when publishing time came, so i attempted to publish.

i made quite a number of mistakes which anna fixed. ( i attempted, but only managed to annoy the mods by asking them to open and close it a lot.)

The Ramblings of a Server
by Justin [Sadolakced Acid]
July 2005

The Ramblings of a Server

Interesting things happen when the server is down. When I'm down, cB is without a home... it's floating in the nether regions. I'm quite important; please don't make me scrap metal. That being said, the last time I was down I had an interesting conversation with an entity named cBnews... here's the logged conversation.

Unknown entity: Hey server! Why are you down?

----information on unknown entity----
Browser: Firefox
IP address: 121.185.2.55
System: Windows XP
Screen resolution: 1024x768
-------------------------------------

cBserver: Who are you, unknown entity?
Unknown entity: What? Who's unknown entity? Oh that's me... we'll get to that later. There's more important things to talk about, like, why are you down?

----information query----
cBserver is requesting additional information on unknown entity.
-------------------------

cBserver: I'm in for a routine checkup. If I am down, how is 'unknown entity' still able to contact me?
Unknown entity: I'm cBnews. I have my ways.

----rename function----
unknown entity = cBnews
-----------------------

cBnews: Well, while I'm talking to you, I might as well ask a few questions. First off, what's so special about you that people love to visit you?
cBserver: I'm a server. I'm not special, what I serve is. Fact is, if nobody visited me, nobody would visit me. I'm like that mall that has nothing of value but people go to anyway because of the other people.
cBnews: What? I didn't know servers could use analogies...
cBserver: They can't.
cBnews: Wait... you're not a server, are you?

----information query received----
query for information:
information sent:
IP: 67.114.21.143
size: 137.6 tbs
running: Linux
----------------------------------

cBnews: You know, this whole 'being down' thing is quite annoying. Many people are annoyed.
cBserver: Sorry, but it's necessary. It's a big bad Internet out there, and I need to get checkups.
cBnews: You could at least not schedule it for 12 AM, when everyone is using you.

----message intercepted----
serverstaff to webmaster:
Hey, the server is going wacko... it's got activity, but it's supposed to be shut down. It's not urgent, just need to know what it was. Anyway, server is to go back online quite soon.
---------------------------

cBserver: Crap.
cBnews: What? Wait... I didn't know servers could cuss...
cBserver: Hurry up. I'm about to be reconnected...
cBnews: ALRIGHT. So just answer this question: what's the secret to cB?
cBserver: That's easy. The secret to cB is--

----server reconnected----
1 reboot.
2 print error.
3 kill gremlin
4 if gremlin killed, goto 5. if else, goto 3. end loop after 99 loops
5 server boot
--------------------------

* The above log is not to be considered absolutely true. It is simply the word of the server, and servers often lie.

LOL!, sorry if i offend any1,but do you guys really know what is a 'Server' ? And even this is a joke, its a Lame Joke. (Since there are 324934xN type's of Servers)
And plus pasting your "Server IP Address" (if that's real and its not a joke) its very lame again,i say`it, yes, you actually invite the 'script kiddos' to try their 'toys' to see if they can 'hack' it ;-) (Or even,if they hate any of the Staff Members/Admins they can DDOS and put your 'Server' down for days/weeks and even month's.

PS:Google and Search -> "What is a Server" doh.
PS2:I hope this is only a stupid joke.

"The server", I believe, refers to the webserver which hosts createBlog.com, in this case.

right...

so are you upset that i didn't peg the right talking server?

the IP adresses are made up.

the whole thing is just entertainment.

if you can't deal with talking servers, i don't see how you got through elementary school with the talking toasters and talking glasses of milk telling you to eat nutritious food.

I thought it was quite funny, and a lot of other people did. If you wnat to criticize it, then fine do so in a manner that helps the writer, not calling it lame. kthnxbye.

Yeppers, again all understood what they wanned to, all i was saying is that, about this virtual things is NOT a good idea even to JOKE when it comes to this kind of things because if any of you REMEMBERS we are "on the NET", here everything is possible, every mistake and every wrong move you've done, is irrecuperable (i hope ive spelled that right)

PS:For sure not too many of you has been so long here "on the NET" to know what i was talking about.
Examples:
Think about yourself being the WebMaster/Owner of CB, and tomorow someone hacks into CB Server and delete's everything, and all he lets on CB site is "haha you got hacked" or just a blank page,
("thinking" that you dont have all the backups or even if that "hacker" was smart enuff and got all your network, deleted all the existing backups from all other PC's on your network, and since i know for sure not too many Webmasters are smart enuff to create backups on CDROM's, you are ? screwed!!!) All your hard work made in years has gone, vanished in 1 single Second.

2nd.
That IP Address that you madeup, it do exists, since IP Addresses are made on Blocks and Classes they all exist from 1 to 255 (last 3 digits on any IP Range Class), but that doesnt mean they are used by anyone,
(Again "thinking" that someone is using that IP Address and it has his Company website on that server, one of your "mad fan's" hacks into their sistem and SUPRISE wow it wasnt what they were thinking, its any other different website/server that has nothing to do with CB or any related things, how he can "feel", mad? yeah right and yet again "he" deletes everything, why all this happen? because someone made a stupid joke and madeup for his joke an IP Address that he doesnt know who belongs to, and oups another person screwed!!!, Not like it was your intention or something like that, it just happens, because yes we are on a virtual word where EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE)
And most of all, if you didnt know on a single basic 1 IP Address even its static or dynamic, it is possible to have on that server 23482834824 websites just like CB all each of them forwarded on a port.

Do i think too much? i dont think so, since all this are REAL,
(Real things & Real Facts that happens everyday here "on the NET")

PS:What i dont like, is to see people who doesnt even know what that words means, but they do reply/comment "just for the sake of that comments".

PS2:again Sorry if i offended anyone!!!

In rest all looks good and its cool to read, goodluck on your cBnews its a hella` great job untill now.I do respect that.

Claudel, I think you've spent too much time watching TV or movies.

Yep, i hope i dont have to repeat myself, another 238483 times, that i posted there only things that happen to me or the company's i was working with during all this years ive been around all this things and im still dealing with them day by day.
I can show you lots of proofs about this, like 50% of USA Univesities, Metropilitan Networks that are hacked day by day, by script kiddos and im still trying very hard to support all with what i can,but since that phreaks are NxN number, this kind of ppl like me are less and less.

Maybe ive gave some inspiration for the cBnews writers for some further editorials, anyway too much talk for something that doesnt need that much attention, and your right not always happens but it DOES happen, once in a while, too bad for those who felt all this on their own.

Goodluck in the future cBnews.
All my respect for all Staff Members.

Claudel, I think you've spent too much time watching TV or movies.

An IP address is nothing. I can get the IP address of the createblog.com server right now. I just did, in fact. It took me about a minute. I also got the contact information for the company or persons that run the server.

An IP address is not an automatic entry into a computer. A computer needs to have a vulnerability. I'm sure a webserver such as the one that hosts createblog.com is relatively secure. Maybe not perfect, but it's high-profile enough that it has come under attack before. Even if it was attacked, the company or persons who run the server would most likely have backups. Most companies/persons do. There's a fair chance they're even kept off-site, but if not, I'm sure a person with a site as big as createblog will have taken steps to keep the data relatively secure in the event of a catastrophe.

Anytime you do anything on the Internet, your IP is logged. The createblog.com has logged your webserver. The mods can view your IP. Nearly every site you go to logs your IP address. It's not a big deal if someone gets it, because the chances of anything happening are slim.

Aside from the technical issues listed above, the article was also written in jest, and need not be taken so seriously.
