so maybe i'll regret typing this later because i'm in more of a rage right now. but i am just SO sick and tired of rascism. and i want to know who else suffers from it. if it wasn't for the pg-13 rule, i'd be expressing this point a lot easier.

so today, when i went to drivers ed class, this one guy--let's call him jason, was telling the entire class about one of his driving experiences.

he was like "okay so i was at this intersection, and this stupid chink tries to pass me... etc etc etc"

and then everyone laughed and giggled and thought it was funny that, jason, such a witty little boy, would use such vocabulary in something that was directed towards the entire class.

**for those of you who don't know what a chink is, it's basically the word, nigger, against chinese people**

and you know what? call me sensitive but that extremely offended me.

it wasn't necessarily the fact that he used the word (which was bad enough), but the fact that everyone was laughing about it.

out of about 30 people, i was one of two azn people in the entire class, so everyone around me consistently started staring at me and snickering going "oooh is it gonna offend him?"

and that just about pissed me off enough.

the other azn girl may have ignored it, but i wasn't just going to sit there and take that

so i basically blew up at the class.

this one kid was particularly looking at me and giggling to himself so i couldn't take it anymore.

i started yelling at him.

i was like "JESUS F***ING CHRIST!! WHY THE F*** ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME? WHAT? YOU GOT A PROBLEM AGAINST AZNS? ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME 'CAUSE I'M AZN? DO YOU THINK THIS IS FUNNY?! IS THIS FUNNY TO YOU?"

and he and everyone else backed down, knowing how serious i was about it. they were quiet about the issue, and the drivers ed teacher said nothing. she knew i was right, so she had nothing to say either.

so then my friends at drivers ed told me later that i was overreacting. everyone thought i was overreacting.

but i didn't think so.

i think i had a right to be mad at the fact that people think this is funny. that people think rascism is suddenly so funny.

and i thought of all the people out there that had to deal with these things--on a daily basis.

and me, living in texas, only encouraged it since, even when i live in an urban area in dallas, there are still some narrow minded texans out there that only see white as the beloved race.

Yep. My english teacher. He was all saying, Asian people that were imigrated her should go back to their own country & all the white kids in the class were agree with him. So, I was like, "shut the fck' up" & almost got a referral. But whatever. I totally agree with you. I'm chinese too. An actual racist is someone who has a strong dislike against a certain group, for example the KKK would be an extreme example.

It's not right to call someone a 'nigger' and finding it humorous, it's not politically correct for them to be called racist. They might be not at all against black people, but may find humor in that word.

And I don't sympathize with people who use the word, but don't let other use it. For example if a Hispanic said to another, "Hey Spic, let's go get something to eat" but they heard a white person called their Spanish friend a Spic they would say, "Hey, you have no right usin' that word. That's our word."

but when I was in school, I would get a racist comment most every day! I live in a town where it's like 85% whites and the african americans at the school didn't even come from my town, most of them lived in the city. I got stereotypical remarks, racial remarks... ugh. I made a topic on this raging my anger and it turned into like a 4 page debate. Actually, Trish lives like 20 minutes from my town and even went to the highschool i'm going to attend in the fall. but yeah, i get called a "chink" and I see people's profiles with their inside jokes about "chinks" or about some other racial stuff. There's this town that's like 70% asian and this white kid who moved to Braintree said he grew up in "chinktown." Ugh, pisses me off so much.

Well, down here in San Antonio where I live, EVERYONE is Mexican, so I've never had racism directed towards me that offended me or anything...

For example, my best friend at school is black, and there's this stupid little white kid in one class who keeps on making fun of her and just keeps on pointing out her race... ex. Me, I don't think any particular race is superior or inferior. I judge individuals on how they act, carry themselves, and view things. Now, the other, less negative racism I don't tolerate either. If you call yourself a nigger, and then dress and act to fit into that stereotype, you honestly can't expect people to not call you a nigger as well (just an example-- that goes for all racial stereotypes!).

You know, the perfect Aryan doll, blue eyes, blonde hair, pink skin and rosy cheeks. She goes on to say how much she hates them- she's frightened of them, she finds them incredibly uncomfortable to sleep with, and the only thing she actually wants to do to the doll is dismember it, to find out what is so lovable about it, to see the beauty that she seemed to miss out on. What she is trying to say in this passage is that she doesn't see the beauty in this perfect doll- she wonders, Why aren't there any black dolls? Dolls like me? And this makes her confused. All she wants to do is belong. Belong to a group that is like her.

Which brings me back to the first statement. Not just black people sit together. Groups of Asians do, the whites congregate in their own cliques, the hispanics, and et cetera. They do it because people naturally want to be in a part of a group that shares common characteristics with themselves- they want to be around people that look like them. It's just the way most people act- sure, there are exceptions, but most people feel safe (or relatively so, anyway) with people like them. I think this tendency people have has an effect on racism- all these single-race groups sit at their own table, but not with each other. The gap between the races increases because of lack of communication, and this gives people the oppurtunity to judge the race solely by stereotypes. With these judgments formed and no personal relations are able to back it up, they possess opinions that aren't necessarily true about the race, which lead to racism.

i think some parts of racism is koo. my theory is that, there are alright parts to racism (jokes and etc.) and serious things. for example, a person not serving you food because you're asian, black, or whaterver you are.

Hmmm...I live in the UK and a lot of people here are resentful of Pakistani people because there was such a large influx of them in the 70's/80's a lot of people accused them of stealing their jobs and houses when the truth was that they were too lazy to get off their arses and look for jobs to get money to pay for houses.

My father was one of the millions of Pakistani immigrants who came to this country met my mother ((who is wholely Welsh, not even a history of other races in her bloodline)) and then they had me and of course, I was born halfcast.

I obviously stand out because a lot of people here are quite pasty and I'm almsot a sort of bronze colour and I always get called names like "Paki" and things have things like "Go back to your father's f**cking country" said to me.

When I was young it used to really affect me and I got quite upset, then from that, I got quite violent and used to hurt people who said these things, then, i became a pacifist and now...I just laugh at these people...Because the funniest thing is they call me like "F**king Indian" and "Chink" and now I just reply "If you want to insult me, get your facts straight, I'm half Pakistani you complete and total idiot, I hope you die in a very painful manner."

It's sad to say but I've gotten used to it and I can just laugh it off now, but if I hear any racist remarks made against anyone other than myself, I will go ballistic and belittle the racist until their testicles go inside them and they feel about 2 inches tall.

I never really noticed it until recently.

See, my school is pretty small so instead of by race, the grade is divided pretty much by gender. The boys' group is primarily white, maybe ten? but there's two Asians and an African-American.
The words "chink" and the n-word make ALL of them laugh. When we were watching a movie and a Chinese person came on the screen, one of the Asian boys screamed "CHINK!" Nobody in our grade is Chinese, but it really bothered me that all of them were laughing at it.
They even do it to Jewish people too, which also bothers me because one of the teachers in our school is Jewish and whenever they see her they whisper to each other "A Jew!"
Even though nobody's getting beat up over it, it also bothers me that my teacher never said anything about it, especially since she apparently wanted to introduce us to different cultures. It was a Catholic school too, so right after religion class they would go right on with it!

I do try not to be racist, but I admit, I may act a little racist at times; its probably my parents rubbing off on me (they're not exactly the most tolerant people).

i think your right ....there has been soo much discrimination not only based on the mass populated minorities during these days but even from the past . Alot of Jewish people were discriminated upon during the 1920`s too 30`s even the Irish and Italians as well , but look what happened now ? ....they practically own almost all parts of any industry you can imagine . = ) so i guess if Asians , Blacks , Hispanics werent putting up in a situation like that then life will go on if not right now then your future generations . About 80% of the black people at my school are racist and I can't stand the ones that are and that's only if they do something to offend me. I only have about 5 black friends at my school because of it. I don't automatically think "Oh, black person at school. Avoid." I've actually had like 7 black girls want to date me, haha. I mean, outside of school I've never had a problem. I'm not sure why it is the way it is at my school. There's always this underlying tension if you talk to one another at school. It really bugs me. so today, when i went to drivers ed class, this one guy--let's call him jason, was telling the entire class about one of his driving experiences.

he was like "okay so i was at this intersection, and this stupid chink tries to pass me... etc etc etc"

and then everyone laughed and giggled and thought it was funny that, jason, such a witty little boy, would use such vocabulary in something that was directed towards the entire class.

and that just about pissed me off enough.

the other azn girl may have ignored it, but i wasn't just going to sit there and take that

so i basically blew up at the class.

this one kid was particularly looking at me and giggling to himself so i couldn't take it anymore.

and he and everyone else backed down, knowing how serious i was about it. they were quiet about the issue, and the drivers ed teacher said nothing. she knew i was right, so she had nothing to say either.
