New fad ... throw away your dinner plates, these will soon be seen in all the best kitchens / file DINERS are queueing for hours to eat at a restaurant where meals such as curry and chocolate ice cream are served in toilet bowls

The Martun, or toilet in Chinese, restaurant in the southern port city of Kaohsiung boasts lengthy queues on weekends as diners wait for a toilet seat in its brightly coloured tile interior.
Food arrives in bowls shaped like Western-style toilets or Asian-style "squat pots".

Manager Hung Lin-wen said the original inspiration came from a toilet-shaped spaceship in a Japanese cartoon.

The theme has attracted droves of novelty-seeking young people who come to play with their food and gross out their friends.

"We think the theme is special, and the food is tasty," Hung said.

But no matter how delicious, a few customers still find the combination a little hard to swallow.

"The taste is good, but I still feel disgusted when I look at it," said diner Lin Yu-may.

yeah i saw that on some website. they had pictures of asian people eating very happily out of toilet bowls. they had smiles on their faces. tongue.gif

That's hilarious, and very creative. I mean, it's not like the toilet's are dirty or anything, so I don't find it gross. Now, if they were dirty.. that'd be just disgusting, but otherwise that's pretty neat.

Erm..............there's this restaurant in Taipei thats sumthin like that, except its not from real toilet toilets, for creativity, the bowls and plates are shaped like toilets. And the chairs u sit on are fake toilets.....................so yea....

cool! i'd try that out. lets just hope these arn't used toilets. i highly doubt it though.

China, I don't believe there is a place where you eat with toilet bowls. The way you say it sounds like you just hate China. Or Chinese people. In my opinion, since I'm Chinese, it just sounds wrong, since there are so many asian people in cB. Plus, I find it really disgusting on how they make the food in the toilets. Just disgusting.

That's sick and nasty, people have urined and took a poop in there thousands of times & they eat off that, sanatized or not, I wouldn't eat anything off of a toilet bowl.

I've seen pics of the restaurant in Taiwan. It's really really cool. The chairs all look like toilet bowls. And I think the bowls are actually really cute. If I went to the restaurant, I'd attempt to steal one. pinch.gif But I most certainly will not order a chocolate ice cream.

Oh I saw that on TV a while ago.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. As long as the toilet bowls are sterilized properly, it's nothing different than serving food with plates.
