Do you think we should increase the number of requirements for official member-dom? Currently it seems that one can be an official member in just a day, which doesn't show a lot of dedication to createblog. Perhaps we should implement a rule that says they should have joined CB for a minimum of a week (or something like that) with a ppd of 5?

Discuss.

well, even though you could easily fulfill all of the requirments in one day...you have to keep up witht he 5ppd which keeps you coming back every-so-often. but i concur with james...i think that 50 posts is too low. ermm.gif

However, if the minimum post count for the official member status were raised, it'd be great since I'm starting to see too many people trying to get fifty posts in one day for the mere service of the xtracker and then leaving after they get the status (which, they usually don't so they keep spamming).

Well if you think about it, one can sign up and post 100 posts that day, apply for official memberdom, get their tracker, and leave. And it'll take a long time for their ppd to drop to 5, so they're not dedicated; they just had free time one day. That's why I think there should be a minimum time period for when they've been at CB.

However, the 100 posts would still be much better than the 50 we have now.

I know I'm a bit late, but I agree. It should be at least 100. If not, up to maybe 150 or so. It seems a majority CB can be an official member right now and it's kind of weird to see an official member with 70 posts, 5 posts a day and be around for only 2 weeks..

Post Per Day, isn't too hard to keep up with. 5 in a day isn't too hard, is it?

I agree. "Official Member" status should be somewhat of a challenging goal, and if you can attain that status in one day, then it sort of loses its luster. :P

I definately agree with this, since it is easy getting 50 posts and 5ppd in just one day, because all they could do is spam. We should also mek sure the member's will stay active. Since the Official member title gives you opportunities to use the uploader and such.

Eh, well the point is, your PPD is still qualified, so it shouldn't be hard. If you're on CB everday and you can keep it above 5, you're good. It's not hard for anyone, really. I post at least 8 times a day..

Well, one of the other requirements is to maintain a 5+ PPD so I think that takes care of inactive members. I do check official members PPDs regularly so I don't think this is a problem.

And I don't want to discourage members from applying for Official Member status. Plus, raising the post count requirement may encourage members to spam even more within one or a few days.

You're going to have to post A LOT to raise your PPD if you continue using this account since you've been on cB since January 2005 (same as me). If I were you, I'd create a new account and work from there.

um it took me like 3 weeks to become an official member or maybe like 4 weeks. about a month or something i dunno.

reason #1 (yes i come on everyday) i replied in topics that i can actully help in. (this proves i don't spam)
reason #2 i don't really have alot of problems to post about.

another question? lets say they raised the number of post to 100, and there are already people who are official members, with like 81 post or around that area would they take the "official member" groupy thingy away? because its not really fair given the fact that i i/we worked hard for it.

other than above, i totaly agree. biggrin.gif

why does it matter?

i changed usernames so i could do more things...as in im more dedicated now. before, i signed up before everybody and their mom signed up and never really came around. thats why my old member number was really low. (my member number was 10x as small as what it is now.)

so, in other words, my ppd was really small meaning it would take ages to get up because i didnt post for over a year so i had like 780 posts with a ppd of 1.5...

get it?

Yes, there are other members who don't come to CB very often to post, so it takes them a long time to reach 50 posts and a PPD of 5.

But there are more new members who can have at least 50 posts on the first day of their registration.

I mean give it to em but they will have a hard time keeping up so its not like it will matter cause they will have to struggle to get it back.

They have to actually focus cause if they forget to get on one day they automatically get demoted unless thier percentage is high.

What about starting this month, all official member requirements will increase (for the newest member). This means, which ever joined cB after October will have more official member requirement than the members who joined before October. It’s fair for us, offical member.

If this idea is not acceptable, please don’t kick everyone in official member group to make them maintain more post that is required to become an actual official member. That’s just ignorant. And please, just try to found another way not to ban official member who joined before October.

For an example, who ever is an official member will remain in official member group even though they did not meet the current official member requirement. Whoever isn’t an offical member must follow the new official member requirement.

It's actually hard for me to maintain more post. I mean, look at my post! I’ve become official members ever since... January 2005, I think. Plus, i have school.

When did you start to actually start posting here on cB with that account?
If it's like 2-4 months later, like I was, of course it'd take more time.

people who ar etalking abou tbeing unable to reach the required PPD, please checkhere for a thread baout the topic, and what should be done

however, this thread is more to do with new official wannabes (wit out trying to sound condescending... there isnt a good way to word that, i guess), rather than long term folks with issues
