Hi! I tried using some of the stylesheets I got from this page, but see all I got was just crap, to be honest. I tried using this template and just inserted the code into the correct place and saved. I didn't make any modifications untill I got it working, but nothing seems to be right with this design. This is what my LJ looks like with the style in action. And I'm no CSS wiz, so I don't really know what went wrong. However one Idea that came into my mind was that perhaps my free account keeps me from altering many of the things that this style requires to alter? Is that so? And in that case, are there any of the styles that I can use?
Thanks in advance.

That's because you didn't follow the instructions.

You need to change the style of the layout so that all of the dropdown boxes in the journal modification page to GENERATOR.

I'd only suggest a paid account if you actually know what you're doing, and judging from this post, you don't. Stay a free account.

I think I did. belive me, i would be much too ashamed to ask a question If I hadn't double-checked everything.

This is what my layoutsettings look like:

And my LJ still looks the same.

I am a programmer, no webdesigner ;-)
And belive me, I have no interest in paying for livejournal. I just registered yeasterday to try and get a hang of the place and perhaps code something like it myself. But we're all beginners sometime.
Thanks for your quick reply.

One thing you do need to fix is by removing all of the hexcodes from the custom colors table (you probably have a premade color scheme listed, check "custom colors" and remove the hexcodes).

Okay, I just entered in the coding to a text journal of mine (here) and it's not anything you did. It's the author error. I'll let them know that it does not work in firefox nor ie. The image doesn't show up at all. But as far as the color goes, it's related to your hexcodes still being in the table when they don't need to be.

Yep, but I figured that was a problem to be solved later on. anyhow I did it, and It got me at least a little bit close to what I wanted.

Wow, thanks. It feels good to know thatmy question wasn't just me being stupid ;-)

I checked it with all the browsers I have; Firefox, Konqueror, Opera, Ephiany, Mozilla and KazehaKaze, none of them shoved it the right way. It could've been a "This-requires-Internet-Explorer"-error, but it's good to hear that it dosenät even show up alright in IE.
It's not just the picture, it's the divs too right? As it looks in this picture The right bar is supposed to be cut off and display text. It dosent, but this might just be me? I don't see the lack of the bacground image as something that could've caused that?
Thanks once again. You are very kind and tolerant. ;-)

I made the skin, and I'm trying now to figure out what exactly is wrong..

I copy+pasted the code exactly as it showed up on the download page <a href="http://www.livejournal.com/users/daniwrogngaetie">here</a> and everything shows up exactly the way it should.

The preview image is cut off, but the actual layout should look like the above link.

I can't see what the layout is doing since you changed your layout, but if you still want me to help you, I can try to figure out what's wrong..

Thanks for your effort, but I think I'll drop the LJ-styling. Blogspot apparantely has full support of CSS without the use of PERL, so I tink Iäll go mess some more with blogspot instead. Thanks anyway, and good luck with those skins. lookin' good tongue.gif

Honestly, I've tried this code several times and it still does not show on my computer. Something obviously wrong..

What browser resolution are you using libertie?

1152x864, but I always check my layouts in both 1024x768 and 800x600 before actually posting them. Does it work for you on the page I linked you to?

Yeah, it does work.

I have no idea why it's not working when I paste the codes.

Strange... This is weird, I'm making a community now just to test it out, maybe that's the problem.

.:edit:. *slaps forehead* I feel so stupid! At first it wouldn't work for me either, but then I realized that neither of us had a website specified!

You're LJ staff now, do you have access to editing the skins? If so, in instructions would you mind adding that you must have a website specified in order for the layouts to work? If not, I'll ask one of the administrators. I'll edit all my posts to say that as well.

As you can see here, it's working just fine now.

The original poster's journal has been deleted, but I bet that was the problem.

Okay, I've edited all the posts now. That makes me feel much better; I thought I was doing something wrong. I apologize for not including that in the instructions.
