Hey. Are there experienced Jack Russell dog owners that can tell me if i should get one. I read that they are hard to train, especially for people who hasn't had a dog yet. Can someone tell me if that's true, or any solutions to the problem. thank you.

A friend of mine has three. The oldest one is a pretty good dog, but the other two are prone to running off a lot. The youngest one just jumps around and barks a lot, at everything, and doesn't really listen much.

He's had the oldest one for probably ten years or so, and the youngest for about five.

Let me warn you (this is from experience): Jack Russells are VERY active. They've gotta be trained at an early age (around 5~6 months). They get excited very very easily, even sudden movements like (the owner) jumping for the phone. My friend has one that's just plain lunatic. Every time someone rings the doorbell, he starts to run around the dining table at a tremendous speed, jumps up and down at guests, bite & sniff at guests... you get my point.

If you're a "beginner" in the world of dogs, perhaps you should consider "calmer" breeds such as golden retrievers, labrador retrievers, german shepard, etc.

Jack Russel are among the easiest dogs to train if you willing to put time into it. As someone stated, they are very very active and hyper (which is the reason my grandpa gave the dog to my family). I would recommend one because they are a fun dog to have around if you dont mind its hyperactivness.

Nope. A big enough yard is needed for them to play around and run in.
