magnetic lasso, photoshop

with that pic im trying to select just the band so that when i paste that pic for a layout im making i wont have the background but i cant figure out how to do that. i tried the magnetic lasso but it cut off some parts of the pic (like shoes or hands) ... is there another way?

Go to filter extract, and select your brush size, and trace around the band and then get the paint bucket and fill in the whole picture that you traced around. and then click ok.

Try using the magic wand tool (press W) underneath the hand tool. Since the background is a solid color, it will be easy. Click on the green part and it will be a selection. Press delete/backspace. You can change the tolerance on the toolbar and it will pick up less/more of the image.
