Image Map, make images change colour on mouse over

I have an image map on my site, I wondered if there was a code to make the images go a grey shade or darken when you put the mouse over the pictures to click on them. Or maybe 'highlight' is a better word. This is the code of my image map and there's a link to my site below if you would like to see it. So to clarify my question is there a code or somehow I can edit this so the images on my map light up when the mouse goes over them?

=/ You'd have to slice the image and use rollovers...
Or use CSS and not use the image map.
