Ok, here's the story. I'm going to leave for Florida on Friday, but my period just came (not for the first time). the car trip is going to suck because I'll be cramped between people and feeling sick... how am I supposed to swim? Do tampons work well in water??? I dont use them, but I dont want my vacation to be ruined. i also have another question... if my period is light on some days, would a regular absorbancy tampon be ok? I dont want TSS. Any advice or good cheer would comfort me. Has this ever happened to any of you?

Chill out!

First, if you have cramps, just take Ibuprofen. Works all the time for me.

Secondly, yes tampons are great for swimming. (In fact, that's the only time I wear them.) Just change them every two hours, so then you don't need to worry about TSS. And yeah, on light days regular absorbancy would be ok. It would just be a little more difficult pulling it out because it's sort of dry.

But don't worry about it. Don't let your period ruin your vacation!

Yeah, please chill.

*cough* Tampons are kinda made for swimming. Yes, regular tampons will work if your flow is light. You won't get TSS if you leave it in the right amount of time. You're period only lasts 5-7 days (maybe less) so it's not going to ruin your vacation. Once again, CHILL and have fun.

Like everyone else said, please calm down! _smile.gif Nothing to get all worked up over!

Tampons work wonders in water. You won't even feel it! I use Playtex Gentle Glide. Regular absorbancy will work fine. You have your period for the first time, so it's not going to be heavy at all. Don't worry about TSS. As long as you don't leave the tampon in for more than 6 to 8 hours, you will be fine.

I hope you have fun in Florida! Don't let your period ruin it. wink.gif

o_o I think you'd figure there was a tampon stuck in your vagina before you die from it being clogged in there. There are doctors now; a tampon will not kill you.

Tampons are perfectly safe if you follow the instructions.

And they're less messy than pads, allow you to swim, and are getting more and more compact.

TSS doesn't depend on the absorbancy of the tampon, it's only if you leave it in too long, too often.

Every 2 hours??? That is too often. They only need to be changed every 6-8 hours.
