I searched, and I couldn't find any topics that asked people to submit their favorite foods from their home countries. I thought it would be cool if you could give us your favorite food from your home country, and if possible, submit a recipe for that food.
I'm from India, so my personal favorite food from there is pau bhaaji. It's kind of like a burger, only the filling in between the bread is a vegetable mix. I'll try to find a recipe later. |

Ireland -- Irish soda bread is my favorite. Corned beef and cabbage is a traditional dish there, and I like that a lot too.
Norway -- I don't like much from Norway. I guess Lefse is okay if it's not plain. |

I like Lumpiang Shanghai, Pancit, Lechon Paksiw, Lechon de Carajay, Arroz Caldo (sp?), Fresh Lumpia, Siapao & Pandesal bread. The desserts I like are Cassava Cake, Mamom (special & regular), Ensaymada, Polvoron & Bibingka Malakit (I think it's called). Actually, for Vietnamese food, my favorite would be com tam thit nuong It's like, broken steamed rice with char-grilled beef and egg and shredded pork and tomatoes and lettuce and a bunch of other stuff! ![]() Since I'm also half Chinese, my favorite chinese food would be.. um.. dimsum? Shit, yo, I made this topic in JUNE.
To avoid spamming, my favorite American food is French fries. (Oh, irony. I know, French fries are actually Belgian, but I consider them to be American.) |

QUOTE(azn_r4pf4n @ Jun 22 2005, 8:26 PM) Chinese food (got a whole bunch): Fried rice - has to be very good.! the type of fried rice makes a difference! These noodles (forgot the name. "zhee mien" in cantonese. dont know the name of noodles) Dim sum - I've ate a lot of the same dim sum usually in chinese restaurants but if i try a new type, its good no matter what it is. not afraid of the taste. ^ That also. That sticky rice they put on those green leaves. Those are good also. Theres probably more. ![]() yupp. same here! now that i think of it..i want some dim sum ![]() |
