There's really not a whole lot to this layout. I'm not really a fan of it. It's very default and boring once you get past the banner that I could have easily conjured up in MS Paint. Maybe look into some text enhancements or a background or do something sophisticated with the dates or I highly recommend adding some color somewhere. This trip looks like it was fun from the pictures, why do you make the layout so bland? And why must the blog be so skinny? There's plenty of room for you to widen the blog area regardless of the resolution you're using. It's all too boring for my liking.
