stupid topics, how can we alert mods to close them?

There are many, many topics in The Lounge (and other subforums) that are completely and utterly pointless, thanks to some certain members. (You know who you are.) I feel that we need a system in which we can alert mods to close topics more quickly and efficiently, besides just PMing. Perhaps we can create a pinned topic within Feedback in which members can post the links to other topics that they feel need to be closed.

Anything else?

A sub forum would just be pointless as well. There would most likely be: a)repeat topics
b)a lot of spam like "Yeah close that topic that this person posted!!11!"
c)more work for the mods, they would then have to close two topics for every topic needed to be closed.

PMing is a fine system, besides, most mods can tell when a topic needs to be closed.

Wouldn't the option of "report" be more appropriate for such a thing?

NO!!!!!1
report is only for major problems! =O

and as for the topic at hand, PMing is fine. and don't worry, if a mod sees the topic, it will be closed in good time. but if it really bothers you, than just PM a mod. as rachel already said...PMing is a good system already.

Well, what's the difference between reporting a topic/post, and pm'ing the link to a moderator?

I think that's a no-no idea. Mods will have finally found that topic needed to be closed and seeing that somebody replied with the link to that same topic. =O Coincidence? Maybe. But then that'll make it longerrrrr for the mods to closeth the topic.

eh. mods do have lives. it's not that necessary for it to be closed if it has already happened or is useless. unless it was some racist topic being so mean and rude to other people, swearing like there's no yesterday, maybe, yes. but i'll wait for that topic to happen.

There is not much difference. There's nothing wrong with using the report button. But when we do ask members to use the report button for certain things, they confuse the report button with the reply button (as they have in the past many times). And it is very annoying.

Btw, not_your_average said pinned topic, not a subforum.

Pming is good.. you could even IM a mod. I know people have done that to me.. sometimes I become idle on cb, and I miss a bad topic, but when they IM me, I can close it immediantly. I agree with Rachel.

The report button is good for major probs. And mods are actually pretty good at knowing what topics to close and what topics to keep open. If there is a topic you think really needs to be closed and a mod hasnt' closed it yet, then you can always PM one. It's a good system lol, no need to make it more complicated

I remember several times I just pmed a mod to just say move or close this topic... I only do that when the topic is getting full of spam and mods don't see it...

so i think pming a mod is the best since it's simple and fast. Like look for a mod that is currently on and give them a link to the topic.

if you report, it sends a PM to ALL OF US. and it gets REALLY annoying when we click on it, and it's already closed. or when people report something five times cause they can't get it through their heads that report is not reply..

Adding the bit about how many times people will send in a report on accident, was irrelevent to the question I had asked.

Also, my question was already answered.

I agree on this certain kind of situation. Well, here are some ways that I am thinking of. We can either:
  • Send a Private Message to a moderator that relates to his/her area to moderate.
  • Send an Instant Message to a moderator that relates to his/her area to moderate. This would be perfect, because moderators are informed immediately.
  • Apply more moderators that are proactive enough. I mean there are about 29 moderators, handling over 100,505 registered members!
I'm out of ideas. Anyway, Instant Messaging would be effective, so moderators would be informed as quick as possible.
