Don't look at me like you don't know what's going on
you've seen the way he's acted around me
you've seen the way he whispers in my ear, and I smile
you've noticed how I make sure he's around when you are
you've heard me say his name in intention to thank you-
For opening a door, or pulling out my chair.
And you ignored it
I see the reason you've furthered this, your pain
To the others it doesn't make any sense, but I know why.
You wanted someone to claim and sought to take me
Who would be at your beck and call and not question any excuse
I didn't want to be her, but you didn't care
In your mind you deserved what you wanted
You'd grab my wrist and put your hands on me
Making sure everyone could see, making sure they saw what you wanted them too
And they would tilt their heads and say how cute, and thought "He's saved her,"
Not knowing you don't want to save me; you want to kill me.
But I knew.
I don't know how to escape you now.

seduction in predator/prey relations. I like the subtelty of your straight forwardness. You said what was going on, but hinted at so much more. I can see a sequel.

Like most things, a certain degree of it spawned from fact and was changed into fiction.

This could have been a relationship I might have had. Thankfully, I do not have it.

From the poem, the title seems extremely appropriate.
