Fallacy

The concept of cognition has become so enigmatic to me,
It’s like taking that first horrifying step onto a road, blanketed in fog, that you’ve never navigated.
Your ardent eye twitches, as if enduring nine hours of REM, maintaining alertness,
It’s a giant metaphor that all of us are involved in.
The enigma is encased in a question that seems unanswerable,
Why us? Why are we the ones?
Why, of all possible choices, were homo-sapiens given such cognitive power?
That’s really what it is; there’s no better word for it.

It’s power.

Clout, muscle, authority, command, supremacy, force; they all fall short.
After 18 years of clueless enduring, I’m finally confident that the ever so enigmatic ‘purpose of life’ that everyone so hopelessly searches for has been exposed.

It’s a common fallacy to be told, and to believe that the purpose of life is inaccessible; remote.

Many people persist a century probing for that utter satisfaction; the kind of fulfillment that dampens the pain of a heart attack, a stroke, a fall, a car accident, a gun shot; the kind of contentment that makes leaving behind a wife, three kids, several grandchildren, and a dog so much more bearable; the kind of gratification that makes lying in an oak, or perhaps marble casket six feet under the soil for the rest of eternity seem less unappealing.

The purpose is to enjoy that cognition. Enjoy that satisfaction you’ll attain by knowing you’ve been privileged. That contentment, and gratification that will send you wherever it is you go after a heart attack, a stroke, a fall, a car accident, or a gun shot with a smile; with a handful of ambition, and with the fallacy sitting on the curb at the station.

I adore your writing style; the imagery is so vivid, and the diction is so eloquent.

Beautiful. Deep.
