getting picked on because of your race. Options

have any one here ever been picked on because of where they are from? Have any like people go up to you and do rude things to you just to get attention and walk away laughing; or anything similar? Like has anyone gone up to you and asked you for money or talked to you like they were your "friend" and then just make fun of you and all because of your enthencity (sp?) If anyone did would you stand up for yourself and tell them to back off or otherwise? Or would you just leave them alone and do what they say cause you didnt want to stir up trouble.

My answer would be to do something. If i just let them continue being rude to me they would continue picking on me cause they would think that im afraid of them. Why should i let them think that they are tougher and think they can do whatsoever to me?

i ignore them at first. if they really don't know when enough's enough, i'll beat the crap out of them. i don't take racial slurs lightly.

for me; it depends. if they are hispanic and are with a lot of their friends, i would just ignore them. you know; with the hispanics around here; they'll kill you if they wanted to >_> but if they are just a regular person that is trying to look good infront of their friends, and doesnt look like they'll harm anyone; i'll just tell them to back off or just yell weird things.

everyone in the US is an immigrant. It just so happens the Europeans came in the 1600's or something, and Asians started coming in the late 1800s and mostly in the 1900s.

Heck, European (white) people are immigrants too. The Native Americans are the least "immigrant" people.... but even they came from parts of Asia ...

Im hispanic, and yeah ive gotten shit for it. I hate it when teachers assume im stupid, it happens all the time, im a straight A student with honors classes. I used to have this social studies guy and he used to come up to me all the time and same with the other hispanic people asking if we needed help.

Not really by my friends. If they did then I'd stop being friends with them. I wouldn't even think about ignoring it or pretend it didn't happen. It's happened to me before. I've also heard it being said to other people since people don't realize that I'm Indian from looking at me. Some people say that we're always dark (which is definitely not true) and that we smell (not true either). Well, maybe our food smells because of the strong spices but who gives a damn. At least it helps reduce the risk of some diseases. Don't assume that the people who eat it smell as well. They say that we're stupid, well guess what, you're stupid for saying such an idiotic thing.

i have some friends who are desis and they always get called "ABCD" by the other desis too. but no i don't think anything like that has happened to me 'yet'...only to my friends really. but ppl can't really tell what i am cuz im kind of mixed and they don't know what i look like so they can't pick on me. lol

Yeah in my old school, my friend and I were one of the only asians in our grade and yeah people always picked on us and at one point tried to hurt us. But oh wells. We didn't get hurt since they couldn't fight.

i think its stupid when people are racist and pick on your for anything that includes your culrture or ethnic backgrounds. i for one absolutley love seeing different races come together and being friends and lovers and whatnot. it warms my heart to see mixed children lol.

Yes. Most of the people who tease me, because of my ethnicity, are African Americans. They tease me just because i'm Asian, and that, we're being "smarty pants." ( See data analysis on races/ethnicities in my school.) I just ignore them, and just do my job.

One time, I was walking into my school for a school concert, and people were waiting by the side of the school. They were these 3 guys just laughing and talking. When I passed by them, they started laughing really hard and said "Ching Chong Chang" really loudly. I was so pissed off. I hate it when people do that. It's incredibly immature and just shows that you have no respect for anyone. I wish I could've yelled at them or something...but they were older than me, and I didn't want to cause bad things to happen. Bah, I should've yelled at them. I really should've.

Ooh, I just remembered another story. Kay. I was in subway one time, and this guy next to me in line said "hello" to me. I smiled at him, but I didn't want to say anything, cause I don't really like to talk to strangers. Then, he started saying, " Why do Asian and Hispanic women never say anything when you say hello to them?" So I just shrugged and decided not to talk to him. Then, a couple seconds later, he goes " Is their county rude? Is their country not friendly? Why are they so rude?" It pissed me off. Sooo bad. Bleeeh. I mean seriously, did he ever learn not to talk to strangers or something?
