Well, my subdomain is (finally) almost up, but enough that you can see what's up. I just need to finish putting writing up, and then the skin section. So!

Unwritten // v.1

This is my first decent website layout, this is the FIRST time I have ever OPENED dreamweaver, not to mention USED it (haha, learn by doing), and I'm not really into the grunge look.

Please please please give me feed back. I'll give you a flower if you do. flowers.gif

The design is nice! But the banner is WAY too big 311.61 KB (319089 bytes). That'll take a huge bite out of any server's bandwidth... I suggest reducing the quality to make the picture around 100~KB... which is still quite, but at least it's not as bad as 300KB.

You could also fragment the picture (chop it up into litto squares), which should reduce the loading errors some users of slow connections and... even reduce the file size... a bit.

Oh goodness, I didn't even think about bandwidth because that's the one little thing I don't quite understand how it works. Thanks, though. I have a feeling the bandwidth limit being exceeded is my fault...

Could someone maybe explain bandwidth to me? How can you reduce it? Smaller file sizes for pictures? Frames? Thank you guys. I'm a subdomain n00b.

Is this your old one? You can try and slice your images. That reduces the file size and the loading time for the page. Optimizing them is a great technique also. What did you have on it anyway that it exceeded?

Yeah, never mind. Bandwith has been exceeded for all of us at ka-boink, and I'm in the middle of a new layout anyway. *rolls eyes*. So yeah, you can close this I guess.
