gradient help.

I can't seem to be able to use a gradient in my Photoshop CS.
Whenever I apply it, the whole image turns out to be "gradiated".
Help, please!

I don't really get "exactly" what's wrong. Can you provide a screenshot of what it looks like after you apply it?

Umm..what are you exactly trying to do? If you just use the gradient tool, of course the whole image is going to be a gradient. If you do it on a shape or text or a layer that is not the whole image, only that shape or text will have a gradient.

where it says "normal" in you layer pallete.. change it to something else.. i reccomend "color"

oh..do you mean when u use the gradient tool the whole image turns out in a black and white or wtvr color gradient..and you cant see your picture anymore? like the whole gradient covers up your picture?

I think she's trying to do an image gradient.
