American Dad!, Good or bad

OK, I've only seen two episodes and I love it. The alien is Brian (You know, same...thing...personality type thing) And they look like charchters from Family Guy, like Stan is Quagmire, with more muscles...and a suit.

yeah, its nowhere near as good as family guy but its okay. it may grow on me. i didnt like Futurama at first bc it reminded me too much of the Simpsons, so i think this will be the same way.

Family Guy is Family Guy and nothing can measure up to Family Guy.

American Dad is a differnt kind of humor intended for a different audience. Topical political humor for 22 minutes isn't going to be a hit with a 14 year old. Where as my mother can watch it and chuckle at all the slapstick humor and the 80s political references.

Yeah they were made by the same people, but that doesn't mean you should compare them..

American Dad. Is Cool. And Funny.

The people that "hate" or "dislike" the show more or less don't understand the topical political humor. So, they think its boring.

I find it to be hilarious.

People, you're still missing the point and the sole intent of the show.

Seth MacFarlane is amazingly intelligent. A lot of the jokes he wishes you use on Family Guy just wouldn't fly because the humor is too bland or too politically incorrect. Instead of voicing political concerns in such left-wing manner on FG, he does it on American Dad.

They act more, you know, 'white' not trying to be offensive or anything. I loved the episode where Alien (whatever his name is) was watching this TV show and it was these 2 women smacking eachother continuously saying bitch or slut everytime. Oh man, however it's not as good as Family Guy. tongue.gif

Well, maybe rip off isn't the right word. I wasn't sure if it was made by the same company, but if it is, then they're just trying too hard to make another show like Family Guy that's most likely not going to be as good. Judging by what I've heard anyway, and the previews.

even though there are similar characters ... the point of the two shows is different. to me family guy is easier to "get" cuz it`s plain stupid funny. but american dad is more subtle & you gotta know what they`re talking about to understand it. i love both shows tho.. go seth

I am a big fan of Family Guy, and I see the similarities between the two shows...
But I think American Dad really falls short in comparison. American dad isn't really funny. But, then again... To each their own right? happy.gif
