Heaven, Hell, God, etc.., Your views. Options

There have probably been topics similar to this but I doubt exactly like it. So if there's any problems with this topic, just let me know and I'll do my best to revise it so it's not in danger of being close. Thank you.


First, I would like to make it clear that this topic is not about religion. At least, not most of it. It's more about the way your imagination feels on things such as Heaven, Hell, God, the Devil, etc... Let me give you my views. (If you do not understand the topic, my example should make it clear. If not, just let me know. )


I am atheist but I'm not closed-minded. I think there is a possability of a higher power. Maybe not necissarily one "God" but that there could be someone out there above it all.

If there is a heaven, this is what I think it is:
Heaven would be the time and place you were happiest throughout your life. Or it could be what would make you happy. I don't think it's some party in the sky where people line up at some pearly white gates are there and all that other things that many people believe. I think that all your loved ones would be around you. Here's an example:

Say you are a 70 year old man madly in love with your wife. You suddenly die of a heart attack but your wife is perfectly healthy for her age. In "Your Heaven" you are young. In your early thirtees when your wife and you fell in love. It was the happiest time in your life. That's why you are that age. Even though your wife hadn't died, part of her soul went up to you. So you are in heaven, together at the happiest time of your life. You are surrounded by others you love and those who love you whether alive or dead.
If you have a relativly bad life and don't want to relive any of it, maybe your heaven would be a place where everything was perfect. It would be everything you ever wanted it to be. I also think that if you wouldn't want anything less than another true life, you could come back in a different life, different body, etc.

I think Hell would be the exact opposite. It would basicly be reliving the worst moments of your life.


Warning: This part might be slitely contravertial.

Now it's time for me to explain my beliefs on God and the Devil.


I think you are your own God and your own Devil. I don't think there's someone up there running your life or even playing a part on it. I don't think there's someone up there giving you second chances. I think there is a part of you that allows you to let go of your mistakes, therefore giving you all the chances you need. You allow yourself to make your own choices, etc.

I think you are your own Devil, too. Your own guilt brings you down and you torture yourself in some ways. Basicly the exact opposite of your own God.




I think things happen by chance. Just because you're your own god doesn't mean you have control over everything. And not everything is dictated or known before you're born or anything. Life is life. It has its own god, too.

and as far as i see;
heaven is a place were after yu past away ou see thee good part of life that we've never seen when we were on earth. Heaven is the part where you get to expierence "better" things; i gues i can just put it like heaven is where we will stay happy and forget the past memories.

for hell; yeahh.. its just the complete opposite. and i guess after you past away the people that supposedly went to hell; they chose their own path; they're hte ones that chose what they wanted to happen.

and for god and devil.. i think everyone has there own image of how god looks like in their heads. Since im aithest(sp) i think its just some sort of imag or imagination going on in our heads; im not trying to offend anyone here.

Yeah. I agree with you for the most part. But when I was talking about God and The Devil, I didn't mean how they look. I was talking about who God and The Devil really are.

im basically athiest. im completely nonreligious actually.

ive never really brought myself to think about god, the devil, heaven, or hell, but what you've said is logical. but i go more by science. once you're dead...you're dead. so i don't believe in the heaven and hell thing.

I believe in a creator, but not in religion so this is my own little philosophy on the subject. God, Devil, Heaven, and Hell are simply metaphors for me.

God - your reason, goodwill, better judgement, patience, understanding, etc.

Devil - your temptations, desires, envy, greed, ignorances, etc.

Heaven - your pleasure for acting through your "God" ...you recieve comfort, satisfaction, fullfillment, contentment, etc.... in your life, not after you die.
- you help somebody in need, you feel good about yourself.

Hell - your misery for acting on your wants and desires.....you recieve unhappiness, guilt, etc.
- you hurt someone to beneifit yourself, you feel bad.

I think how you apply them is how your life will play out, not how a higher power will reward or punish you when you die.

I agree with you. I don't think there is an afterlife or anything. But like I said, I don't usually close my mind off to other possabilities.
