Hey don't worry about it...there's a lot of people in your shoes right now...but think of the positives..if you can turn that 190 lbs into muscle damn you'd be a force to be reckoned with.

but yeah...running is VERY good for you...but it can very easily be countered by that eating habit you have while you watch T.V. It's very tempting to do so since you're immobile at the time...but try to resist.

I'm not going to tell you HOW to lose weight..because everyone has different methods but I will say "good luck." and just think if you can turn that 190 into muscle...that'd be awesome.

Props to you to admitting your problems..that takes a real man to do.

...actually...I'm going to talk to my friend...who also is trying to lose weight. (He's heavier than you are...) and he has a structured diet.

I'm going to go to his house some time soon and get his diet plan...and I'll show you. Maybe you'll like it?

It involves running at least a mile a day or every other day...(that's all I know of yet..)

I'll keep you informed.

Hang in there and just think positive. You're not alone..

Exercise and when you eat in front of the T.V...don't eat junk food eat something like Grapes or a fruit.....crackers are good..not the salty ones though...and about Excersising...it doesn't have to be crunches or sit ups...It can be going outside and riding your bike or just shooting some hoops....walking around the neighboorhood is even excersise...Salads are your friend..

Good Luck......remember....hard candy can't make you fat so have some jolly ranchers or starbursts when your craving chips or something..

at least you run. I'm not overweight, but I'm kind of chubby, and i wish I could lose weight. I can bring myself to exercise and eat healthy for short periods at a time, but usually i fall back into my own habits.

The focus should never be on shedding the pounds. Losing weight doesn't always help. You should try working to get back into some sort of shape by improving your stamina and endurance. In the process, you'll lose weight anyway, but don't make that a priority. Next, build that excess fat into muscle mass. You don't have to be the Governator, but you don't want to be Woody Allen, either. You'll subsequently notice that you'll lose weight only to gain a fraction of it back. But you'll be in shap and relatively lean if you stick to a moderately strict workout routine.

haha i realize im not the one who made this topic but yeah that is a good idea. i dont have a scale at home and i only get a checkup once a year, so thats what i usually do. aim for more endurance or stamina (mine is surprising low.) but i can't get myself to stick to a workout routine pinch.gif

I'm overweight and I'm currently on the South Beach Diet. It's really great cause you see immediate results. Plus, you'll see even more cause you run...unlike me >_< I hate exercising...but I'll probably start. At first, it's going to be hard, but it's so worth it. Go to a local bookstore and buy the South Beach Diet book. It really works. (hope that helped XD)

Do crunches..

And for 15 min each day, do this exercise.

Place feet firmly on ground
swing upper body side to side as far as you can for each side, but relaxingly.
I lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks from doing 500 crunches and that exercise I mentioned each day, plus I ate junk food the whole time. pinch.gif whistling.gif

Okay here is what you can do....... if your school has a wrestling team go to them... one of the coaches should be a nutrition guy. Ask him for a diet or something that you can do to loose weight, it is his job to know what is healthy for you, dont do the wrestler way and cut 15 pounds in a week, trust me I did it isn't easy dont do it just ask them.

if you must eat, eat something healthy and a small portion of it. otherwise only eat when you're hungry; resist by going out for a walk or something. swim, run, keep yourself BUSY. however if you run as much as you say you do, i bet you're not as "fat" as you think.

Well, you can do swiming everyday because it helps stretch your muscle and "fat". Especially when you are growing .. that means you are stretching your "fat" 2x faster. You should get good amount of calcium per day daily .. so when you grow .. you'll grow more and expand your fats and height.

well think of it this way summer is coming up right? well if you have low self esteem thats basically the problem with alot of people who want to lose weight. They demand fast action results in like a day well hahah that cant happen it takes time and commitment. If you really want to lose weight then i suggest a helathy diet, you may not like it at first and want to go back to your old eating habits but you gotta make it happen if your serious. My coach makes us run everyday and i know for most people when it comes to running they hate it haha but its good for you keep your heart rate up. if you cant reach a gym and just want to work out at home you should do Stretches run around your neighborhood (about a mile a day) and do simple push ups and sit ups for a week, then your body will be able to exceed its limits thats when you take it up a level like doing PUSH UPS on elevated areas(Put your feet on a step stool) and inclined situps or crunches haha well if you just keep it up and really commited you'll learn to love it than hate it =]

1. more sleep
2. more water
3. less sugar
4. more self-esteem (yes, this affects your weight)

losing weight is hard. (in my opinion). all you have to do is just keep busy and try not to think about junk food. this week i've lost 4 pounds. (i was really happy about that.) just eat less. you could eat frozen grapes. that way it takes you longer to eat them and you'll be full faster. drinking a lot of water will make a huge different too. good luck with the weight loss!

well, my advice would be..

DON'T TRY TO LOSE WEIGHT. YOU ARE PERFECT THE WAY YOU ARE

but...if you insist.

first off, you have a BMI of 25.1, I don't consider that to be overweight at all!.

you can have anything you want. but in moderation.

moderation

don't try to restrict yourself too much, because you'll only end up in square one.

exercise, etc.

trade fast-food snacks [if you eat them] for healthy alternatives,...but don't deprive yourself.

I looked up your expected caloric intake, and it uhm..should be around 3100 cals..though I would advice 2000-2500.

I know my advice is shit..

but stay safe <3

Haha. You sound EXACTLY like me.

FAT STATS
AGE: 14
HEIGHT: 6"0
WEIGHT: 210 POUNDS
BODY FAT PERCENTAGE: 34 PERCENT

In 8 months

NOW STATS
AGE: 15 (as of May 15)
HEIGHT: 6"0
WEIGHT: 170 POUNDS
BODY FAT PERCENTAGE: 19%

Well this is what worked for me. IT IS NOT THE SAME FOR EVERYONE.

BASIC RULES
1. Be gradual about everything. There is no way that you're going to be able to do all of this at once. In fact, chances are, no one can. Be gradual. It will take a lot of time to try and get to where you want to be.

2. DON'T MAKE EXCEPTIONS. You know that there will be times when you really really really want to take a "break" on your diet or workout. Do the best not to. Chances are, you'll see that taking a break is okay; and eventually you'll think you can take more and more and more, and eventually, you'll see that you're not making progress and give up entirely. Persist! NO EXCEPTIONS! That's why it's also important to be GRADUAL so you won't HAVE to make exceptions and you won't WANT to take breaks.

BASIC TIPS - BEGINNING
Try to walk instead of getting a ride. Walk to and from school. Get up earlier in the morning and just walk there. The morning walk is nice, especially with some music. Chances are, too, that you won't be late for class either. Just watch for cars and the people in them that aren't losing as much weight as you are.

Drink as much water as you can. Personally, I drink at least a liter or two. Water is a major ingredient in your body chemistry, constantly cleaning, filtering out things, and most of all: getting that excess crap out of body, including things like fat. Now, I'm not saying that if you drink water, it'll end up in the toilet. I mean that water will help you get rid of a lot of that fat and help burn it off. You'll also notice that it's easier to get up in the morning, and you feel more energetic than you used to. Sure, you may have to use the restroom one or two times more, but believe me, it's worth it.

Stay away from the three S's: Sugar, Snacks, and Soda. Keep yourself as far away from these as you can. But don't do it all at once. Work everything gradually. Instead of going "Absolutely no soda" make yourself go into Diet Soda, then eventually to none at all. There will be a point in your progress where, in fact, you'll see yourself making progress that you won't want to have the S's so you won't lose that hot physique!

BASIC TIPS - SLOWING DOWN
You'll start to notice that your progress might be slowing. Hey! You probably made a lot of progress at this point. This is where you want to get into shape. Not just about losing the pounds, but working on getting into that cutness.

Running is good. Personally, I just joined the Summer Cross Country Team. The program here is really great, and we train really hard, the team ended up in CIF Finals (if you know what CIF is) and are league champs in all divisions. Now. Running is HARD. I know. I never thought I'd be able to run 6 or 7 miles a day, six days a week for the past 3 months. But hey, I'm right here. Now, I'm not saying that you should be doing what we're doing at all. Chances are, if you try, you're going to give up. Running is probably the best thing to burning off excess fat. Again, be really, really gradual. BUT MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE CONSTANTLY GOING UP.

Have fun.
